“An Omakase sensation that captures the heart of your stomach!”
I loved the truly intimate tasting menu experience at Ginza Kojyu! I dined on some new proteins I had never experienced before. The people who worked there were so kind and made my trip and adventures in Tokyo that much more delightful. Even when I had questions that tested language barriers, they f...ound a way to communicate answers, satisfying not only my stomach but my curiosity as well. If you have the pleasure of being able to book a seat at their dinner Omakase tasting menu, you should do it! You will not regret the innovative culinary experience that will swim into your mouth.

“Intimate experience; different from most restaurant settings”
I and my husband wanted a Michelin experience in Tokyo. We found that Kaiseki or Umakase are the types of settlings in Japan which are high end and luxurious. So we selected Ginza Kojyu. Here are some remarks: 1. It's about the food and the technique. Most of the meals were Umami in nature. You can...not simply point your finger on the taste. It's your fifth sense of taste which only Japanese culinary experiences can bring forth. Spices are always minimal in Japan. Remember that. 2. Choose wine pairing. It's totally worth it. Let them educate you on why different wines go with different meals. 3. Soak in the experience. Listen to the explanations and engage yourself with the hosts. They're very humble, shy and yet skillful. They deserve our appreciation. 4. The restaurant is very small and it takes a while to get used to the setting of chef and staff serving 8 people all at once with each of them facing them. 5. The staff is more confident and fun when they're with Japanese audience. That is something you cannot change. 6. Always remember. In Japan, the chef is the orchestrator of the restaurant, not only the meals.

“Exquisite cultural experience”
Simply superb !! A Japanese friend arranged the booking well in advance. We had a delightful traditional Japanese kaiseki meal - an exquisite cultural experience. Sophisticated, beautiful tableware and very peaceful.

“Avoid this place. ”
Terrible, bland, devoid of flavor or personality. We eat great meals all over the world . We so carefully picked this dinner in Tokyo as our big night out. Disappointed in every level. No ambiance inside.Bland ,tastless food every course.emotionless chef . I could honestly find nothing positive abou...t the evening with the exception of dining with the love of my life. Wildly expensive but that's fine if it was exceptional or even great perhaps interesting maybe one spectacular course .but no. Avoid this place.

“Superb food in wonderful surrounding”
Superb food in wonderful surrounding This place is not your everyday eating experience. With three Michelin stars and limited places for dinners, it’s definitely a treat yourself option. We booked in here as a present for my husband’s birthday. The restaurant is in Ginza-a beautiful area with gr...eat architecture and high end shopping options. In a small little building, you come out the lift and are greeted by very transitional Japanese interior with wood and stone. The ladies are dress in traditional geisha outfits and the chefs in their whites. We ate lunch with four other people at a long bench where you can see food being prepared and plated for you. There is no menu and you are served the seasonal food of the day. Our food did not disappointed at all. Beautifully presented, beautifully balanced and spectacularly cooked. All in all we had 9 courses-a fabulous appetiser with soft octopus, sweet potato and shrimp, salmon row with spinach and mushroom, raw snapper and a potato in miso concentrate. Next came a light Japanese broth with mushroom, egg and a shrimp dumpling. We were then served a sashimi course full of flavours and different first such as flounder, fatty tuna, smoked tuna and prawns. The fish course was Grilled Akamatsu fish with a light sesame sauce-the best piece of fish I have tasted in a long time. The meat course consisted of extremely tasty Wagyu beef with an extremely rich mushroom concentrate. Next came the another broth.....this was not our favourite of the whole meal-herring and egg plant in a ginger broth. The grilled eel that followed was amazing (especially coming from someone who said they would never eat eel!). Deliciously rich but balanced perfectly with a scrambled egg soup and rice. Worried that desert would be too heavy....how wrong could we be. We were served two types of grapes and apple that were frozen with a fresh apple jelly. We finished with a light green tea and a Warabimochi (soybean powder based Turkish like consistency sweet). Everything was described and explained to us by our waitress who spoke amazing English. An expensive meal but well worth every penny.
