“Absolutely phenomenal - don't miss this! ”
We happened to come across this restaurant online by chance and made a reservation - best decision! It was by far the best meal we had in Tokyo. The focus is on simplicity and fresh ingredients and it could not have been better. The timing of the dishes is perfect. The cadence and flow of how it w...as served was impeccable. The fact that it's a tiny restaurant with only the chef makes the whole experience so personal. Having shopped at a few markets in the city, the cost of ingredients in this meal alone justifies the (very reasonable for a 2 Michelin star) price. Honestly it was fantastic - don't miss the chance to have a fantastic, intimate, and authentic meal in Tokyo.

“The One Man Show”
Great food with relaxing atmosphere. We really enjoyed watching the chef preparing his delicate authentic Japanese dish. This is one of the best meals we ever had in Japan!

“The wonder of one man and great produce”
The dinner took close to 4 hours, but it was never short of interesting. Watching Chef Kikuchi work is part of the experience. At times masterful as he carefully prepares the ingredients, at times clumsy as he rushes to lay out the plates. Oh, the plates. That's the first thing you notice when you e...nter the place. Everything is served artfully on plates or bowls that's just the right size to complement the dish. And talking about what's served, I think the wonder of the menu is not about the cooking. It's about the choice of ingredients and produce. The preparation of the dishes are simple and subtle. And I think the strongest trait of Kikuchi-san is his mastery in selecting the freshest ingredients. Never in my life had I, or perhaps will I ever, have a chilly, taro or tomato that tastes so sweet (and I don't even like chilly or tomatoes!)

“A true one-man show ”
Where else can you see the two-star chef sweeping the street before he starts the service? This is Kikuchi. You'll have the most simple and exquisite meal plated and served to you by the very chef who went to buy the freshest ingredients earlier in the day. It's a temple for the best of Japanese pro...duce. We loved the poetic simplicity of a perfect navet simmered whole in dashi, or a chilled tomato served as a palate cleanser before dessert. The environment is restrained, just as the chef likes it. You are asked not to wear a strong perfume that can interfere with doing your job - that is, taking in all the subtlety that Kikuchi serves you.
