Our group of 4 were lucky to be able to make a reservation at Nishiazabu Taku a week before when our other reservation was cancelled due to the chef being hospitalized. I was attracted by the great reviews both on google and Youtube along with the number of dishes served. We got to the main restau...rant 15 min early and one of the chef quickly walked us to the Annex. I believe that most foreigners will typically be eating at the Annex because the chef speaks English well. It was the case for us that night as everyone in the Annex were from the US. The staff was very attentive throughout the meal and the chef make sure to explain every single dish he served. For the fish, he has a book that provides a visual of the fish and he will often mention the prefecture that the fish is from. We had the sake pairing which was 5 different sake curated by the chef himself. They were all good sake and paired well as the meal progress. There were 30 dishes served that night and the preparation of the fish reflects the skill of the chef. He also made sure we were eating each piece properly. In a couple of dishes, he would prepare 2 pieces so that we can eat each piece with and without the sauce. Its like getting two completely different dishes! In total, the meal took 2.5 hrs and I was completely full! I can see why Nishiazabu Taku is a highly rated sushi omakase. The quality of the fish, the skill of the chef, and the attentiveness of the staff were exactly what you expected from a Michelin rated restaurant.

It’s simply outstanding. I have been experiencing top class omakase in Japan and around the world for 30 years and this has become my nirvana (4th visit). Outstanding variety of seafood with seasonal nuance, excellent preparation and presentation. Great combination of sashimi, nigiri, grilled and p...oached items, some more traditional, others with interesting flavour twists. The dining room is cosy and inviting, unlike some more sterile comparators, so a good ambiance. Very solid wine list, especially featuring Burgundy. Charming and inviting staff, including chefs and sommelier.

Thank you Chef Satoshi Ogura for the one of the most memorable meals we had in Japan. The rice, the fish, the preparation, the presentation, and the pictures to explain each course were awe-inspiring. We were at a loss for words by the end of the meal. We've had hundreds of NYC sushi omakase meals, ...and this felt like we had finally reached the Holy Grail.

I think the only thing I have to do to express how great it was is to copy/paste what I wrote the the Michelin Guide after our visit: «  Dear Michelin guide staff. We wanted to inform you that we had dinner recently at the Nishi-azabu Taku restaurant in Tokyo. We were a family of six and we were wel...comed and served by Master Satishi Ogura in one of the private room. His omakase meal was THE best we never had had and we are a family of Gourmet Foodies! I also asked him if he could propose for some of us a pairing with Japanese Sake and it was each time a perfect match. He took the time to explain to us, by showing picture, what fish we were eating! The quality and innovative side of some of the sushi’s were wonderful. We strongly suggest to you to revise your one star rating to a 2-stars rating! Thanks you! » To make a long story short… it was an awesome experience!

This restaurant exceeded all of my expectations and then some. It was an unforgettable dining experience. Chef Satoshi was amazing, and his lighthearted humor, knowledge, skill, and humble passion shone as bright as the delicious dishes. With every plate he masterfully served, we were also given ins...ight into what we were eating and where it came from. His drink recommendations were spot on, and there wasn’t anything about this experience that was not 5 stars. We had so many dishes that I can’t remember them all, but each was fantastic, and we finished the meal with decadent ice cream and tea. When it came time to leave, he walked us out, which sealed the experience as being one I’ll never forget.
