“The only inviting thing open for dinner”
After a futile search for somewhere to eat on Enoshima, we walked back towards the railway station hoping to find something on the mainland. This restaurant beckoned and we were invited in and placed immediately with water and menus. We chose something simple and low cost, but clearly this was a pop...ular place. No problem - we enjoyed the warmth and respite of this restaurant on this cold wintry night, and our simple meals filled our tummies.

“Seriously good food by the beach”
There might be a line up. Just get on the end. Chill out. Your turn will come! And for lunch order the house special : Makanai Don. Y1,480. It’s a great dish! Draft beer to wash it down. Very helpful service. A rare find is this place!

“chilled out jp food”
The main photo that Trip advisor shows is the station nearby. Enoshima Koya is located about several 100m away from the station to the beach. The place sits right by the local river Sakai - river, and it gives a nice chilling feel. They have won some B-class food contest but not like it says as B..., the taste is A. You see many dish with fish, but there are some interesting menu which reminds me Italian approach.

“Summer sanctuary: sun and sea within reach of Tokyo city.”
One of my favourite places to visit during the summer. Especially if you're seeking respite from the noise and dust of the city. It's about an hour and a half from Tokyo city by Express Train (red) on the Odakyu Line. Less if you take the Rapid Express (orange). The layout of the area is not comp...licated and you can easily Google for maps showcasing the handful of highlights - the shrine, aquarium, spa. What you really need to do however is to just walk around - slowly - and soak in the atmosphere. During the summer, the black sand beaches are packed with groups and families all laid out on mats and deck chairs, beer and snacks all around. The quintessential summer activity. Personally, I'd head towards the shrine up the hill, past the rows of shops selling local specialties like しらすor baby sardines, rice crackers, Japanese sweets and kitschy souvenir t-shirts. At the top of the steps, turn right and follow the path up the hill and keep walking. Past the second shrine, the traditional Japanese wagashi (sweet) shop, past all the restaurants till you get to the other side of the cliffs. And be surprised. :) On the way back, stop by the second restaurant after the flight of steps back up. The restaurants there all sell pretty much the same thing but this one had the best view and location in my opinion. All the times I've been there, I've been lucky enough to get a seat outside overlooking the cliffs. A perfect, perfect way to top a summer excursion to Enoshima. Literally. :)))
