“Great food hideous Maitre'd”
This restautant food was exceptional. Fresh and light. However the Maitre'd/ sommelier....or that is what he thought he was...was hideous. Ponsed around verging on rude and knew norhing about wine We asked for a wine list as saw that other diners were drinking red wine. We were told there was not on...e. Eventually he disclosed reds he had from different countries and we settled on a red from Chainti. When the "somellier" appeared back with the red he showed us the bottle, opened it, poured some into his glass and he did the tasting to OK the wine. This we had never experienced anywhere in the world. On tasting the 2008 vintage which at that age should have been decantered, I thought it was corked but did not want to make a fuss in a restaurant full of Japanese. Well....you should of seen the sediment and wine sludge left in our glasses. We did then make a fuss and the cost (around $170 Aussie) was deleted from the bill. A shame as the food was exceptional. Maitre'd pedestrian

“An outstanding dining experience”
Located in a hard to find location on the 4th floor above Barney’s New York in a Ginza,we were greeted by our host, jackets taken and we were shown to our table in a small room seating about 20 guests with an open kitchen on one side. No wine list or menu, we were asked whether we preferred red or... white wine (we chose white), we were asked if we prefer Chardonnay or Sauvignon bland style (we chose Sauvignon bland) then were presented with four outstanding wines including two Sancerre’s, a Bourgogne white and an Austrian white. We chose a Sancerre which was outstanding (we had two bottles at about USD100 per bottle). The food kept coming, freshly prepared skewer after skewer of Kobe beef, duck, fish, scallops, lotus root, veal, chicken, pork and others I cannot remember. Each was delicious and placed pointing to the one of six different sauces plus salt with which it should be accompanied. A different, memorable and special dining experience with amazing food and individual service. Highly recommended.

“Pleasantly suprised”
We went to the Barney's building off Ginza looking for another restaurant but had to pass on our original choice because one of my daughter's is a vegetarian. Instead, we reluctantly decided to eat at Rokukakutei and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food and the service were. We would d...efinitely go back and I wouldn't hesitate recommending this place to other people.

“A strange, wonderful meal”
I've never had a meal like this. You sit at the counter and the super-nice chef gives you, rapid-fire, fried skewers. Probably 20-25 of them. And then you leave. Sounds awful, right? Well, it's wonderful. The frying process is delicately done and they feel extremely light and non-oily. The things h...e is frying can range from a simple shrimp to a complicated wrapping of several kinds of fish and vegetables. There are, in front of you, 5 different sauces you can dip the skewers into, all of which complement a different skewer wonderfully. The entire experience is extremely unusual and extremely good. The meal took about 90 minutes or so and everyone was extremely friendly. The English was a bit limited but non-problematic and, be warned, there is no menu. You get the skewers and you eat them until they're finished or you're full. That's it. But if you want a strange and wonderful (albeit pricey) meal, it's hard to beat this place.
