“A really good French restaurant in Daikanyama, Shibuya”
I have been a loyal customer of a French restaurant at this location. The newly renovated "Recte" still serves a great value meal that deserves accolade. It sources fresh local ingredients and uses them wisely in a menu that is above the best restaurants of the world. Reading the menu and looking ...at the pictures do not tell the whole story. Each dish is in balance with all flavours complementing each other, unlike other restaurants in the world claiming fame. Recte is like tasting wine with complexity (like a bottle of 1982 Château Lafite Rothschild). If you fancy eating gold leaf with beluga caviar, sea urchin, raw toro, topped with slivers of truffles in one mouthful on a shiso leaf, this is not the place for you. The Pumpkin soup was fresh in season, unremarkable, and complemented by a flavourful cracker. The octopus salad was one of the best tasting of all in the world. It was not tough to chew but fresh with accompanying flavours and accents in balance. The risotto was cooked perfectly just like the best of the world: in consistency, texture and mouthfeel. It was served at the right temperature and complemented with fresh vegetables and parmesan flavours in balance. 2! kinds of sautéed fish were presented perfectly: slightly crispy on the outside, meaty in the middle, yet juicy. The fish were really fresh. Next came the roasted pork well seasoned in a good sauce with fresh small clams. A professional chef friend said it looks awesome in picture. I told him it tasted like how it looks. There was a good selection of tea and coffee. Desserts were like the best in France: amazing but with exotic ingredients. The warmed bread served mid-course and the madeleine were a bit on the soft side and wet as compared to those in France. Wines ordered with the meal were good selections from France. Très délicieux!
