“Verveine was too hot, expensive, and crowded; it could be better.”
Verveine is within easy walking distance from Tama Plaza station. Their menu is only in Japanese, so having some basic reading would be helpful. The experience was a disappointment. We ordered the mid-level lunch special and found the vegetables soggy, the sauce for the chicken unremarkable, and th...e service lacking. On a positive note, the simmered meat in red wine sauce was nicely done and the soup was made of fresh ingredients. Their space is small, even by Japanese standards, and as a result they have crowded as many seats into the dining area as possible: 20 seats in a space no larger than a ten-mat room. The most outstanding problem was the dining area was extremely warm. Sweating as we ate made it very difficult to appreciate the food. There are other choices for French food in this area that are more delicious, comfortable, and affordable. I would bring guests to those before returning to Verveine. Should I try them again, it would be in winter where we have a chance at not sweating over our meal.
