“I Love This Restaurant”
Outstanding Restaurant that I particularly enjoyed. The owner of the restaurant is constantly attentive to your needs. The restaurant is frequented by locals and there’s not a tourist insight. This is traditional Japanese food that should be savored and one would expect to spend two hours enjoyin...g dinner. I highly recommend Sakame.

“Tasty and friendly atmosphere!”
This restaurant is located in Ginza, started since 1947. A small setting with about 27 seats, specializing in fresh ingredients and also featuring their own sake. We have ordered the chef recommended dinner set which is very good and delicious.

“Wonderful traditional Japanese quisine”
Yes, anyone is spoiled for choice in terms of good restaurants in Tokyo, but this is a truly special one. Small. intimate and decorated in a lovely traditional style. The lunch was spectacular. There was a special set of the day and we could choose from the 1, 2, or 3 course option. Traditional J...apanese fare. Smiling, friendly service. Our group ranged from very Hungry to having jet-lag induced little appetite so there were all combinations ordered. Amazingly fresh, grilled, subtly-seasoned fish, scallops; and I, personally, was more than satisfied with only the wonderful taro potato course. Its tucked away but staff from any of the surrounding hotels can help you find it. Treat yourself!

“The only thing warmer than the welcome is the hot sake”
Sankame is a family run restaurant in Ginza. It had been awarded a Michelin star each year since about 2009 but sadly it appears to have been omitted from the 2015 edition of the guide. This being our third visit to Sankame I can attest that nothing has changed. Sankame was as awesome as ever. They ...serve simple and delicious Japanese food. Simple probably does not do their chefs justice. Let's just say simple appearance probably means extensive complex construction and cooking. We chose the "course" menu with extra rice and sashimi for the kids. Yes, kids. Our host and hostesses at Sankame couldn't be more friendly and welcoming. In fact they recognised us from our last visit 2 years ago. They pointed to my wife and indicated last time that she was pregnant so we were able to introduced them to our 18 month old son. They also recognised our daughter and indicated how much she'd grown in 2 years. So to say we'd been warmly welcomed was an understatement. Everybody in the restaurant was told who we were. Many customers are local regulars and everybody seems to know everybody else. Sankame is one of those friendly places where other customers, if they speak a little English, will turn around and have a chat with you. All this adds to the character and ambience of the place. For such a casual and friendly restaurant the food quite refined. Each course is exquisite and fully flavoured. Fish dishes are beautifully grilled and smoked, the soups are delicate, the sashimi outstanding. I recommend trying the full course menu. There are just enough dishes to fill without bloating you and you get to try a variety of dishes of seasonal and local specialties. Lunch is cheaper than dinner. Expect to pay about 15,000 yen for the full course menu for dinner. However Sankame is cheaper than most Japanese style restaurants for food of this quality. But if budget is a concern definitely go at lunch time. Michelin star or not Sankame is well worth a visit. We've been 3 times and each time the meal and service have been outstanding. The only thing warmer than our welcome was the hot sake.
