We went to this restaurant at about 1:15 pm and fortunately there was a table for us. We ordered the super premium Oyakodon at 2000 yen and the premium Oyakodon at 1500 yen. Service was good and food came quite quickly. After lunch, I could walk to Cafe Lapin nearby to buy coffee beans.

The oyakodon is full of chicken and eggs as u can see from the pic. There's already cooked egg and there is still a raw egg on it. The chicken is tender and cooked nicely too. Its quite a big bowl as I was very full after that but that bowl of Oyakodon is around 2200yen which is quite expensive thou...gh.

下町の居酒屋の雰囲気を醸し出す、鶏肉をふんだんに活用した和食料理店です。馴染み客の利用が多くて一見さんは利用しにくいような第一印象を受けましたが、どのような客も普通に利用できるしスタッフもきさくに対応してくれます。 調理から給仕に至るまで、全てのスタッフの手際の良さがとても好印象でした。食材の特徴、仕入先、仕入れるまでの苦労話に至るまで、単に博識なだけでなく小気味の良い口調で話をしてくれて、最後まで飽きずに食事を楽しむことが出来ます。 ランチでも好評の親子丼をいただきました。硬さ・柔らかさの変化を付けた鶏肉の拵え方は抜群でしたし、とじられた卵も甘すぎずしょっぱすぎず、舌触りも絶妙。最後まで美味...しくいただくことが出来ました。1回は必ず訪れるべき料理店の一つだと思います。 なお、ランチではクレジットカードは使用できません。現金のみ使用できます。 This is a Japanese restaurant that gives off the atmosphere of a downtown izakaya, serving mainly chicken dishes. The first impression I got was that first-time visitors would find it difficult to use the restaurant, but all customers are usually welcome and the staff are friendly and helpful. From cooking to serving, the entire staff is very crafty. They are not only knowledgeable, but also have a light-hearted tone of voice as they talk about the characteristics of the ingredients, their suppliers, and the difficulties they went through to get them. You won't be bored by the end of your meal. I had the Oyakodon which is popular at lunch as well. The chicken was made with various degrees of hardness and tenderness, and the beaten egg covering the chicken was not too sweet and not too salty, so the texture was exquisite. I think this is one of the restaurants that you must visit at least once. Please note that credit cards are not accepted at lunch. Only cash is accepted at lunch.

Read everyone’s reviews and went for the special oyako don at 1800¥ - it was a good bowl of oyako don but probably not worth that price. I noticed all the locals went for the regular one at 1100¥. It didn’t look that much different (and was a slightly bigger serve). On hindsight, I would have just g...one for the regular one and probably wouldn’t have noticed the difference. We went on a Monday at 12.15 lunchtime and were 2nd in the queue. Probably waited less than 10 mins. You have to order once you’re in the door before being seated, there’s no English menu and if you’re directed to sit upstairs, make sure you remove your shoes before walking up the stairs. They provide plastic bags that you place your shoes in and you bring them up with you. Tables upstairs are on tatami - seated on floors. I would recommend just to say you’ve tried a Michelin oyako don, but it’s not something I’d go back again for.

Nothing beats this hearty bowl of chicken+egg with rice!!! If u have difficulties reading Japanese, be sure to recognize this word “親子丼”, it’s referring to the chicken+egg with rice. “特上” means special/deluxe. I’ve ordered one of the limited 20 bowls of “特上親子丼”, for which they use the most tender pa...rts of the chicken. Highly recommended!!!!
