“Beautifully cooked chicken that is almost beak tail feathers.”
We went here early on wet Sunday night without a reservation and found we didn’t need one at 515pm. The hostess was very friendly but made it clear that of the three set menus only one, the cheapest, with the smallest number of yakitoris (7) was available. We sat right at the counter where we could... see the chef and feel the heat of the grill. The meat and veg skewers were accompanied, or preceded, by what I think was citrus pickled baby octopus, cloud-like fresh tofu, and tiny pieces of very tasty chicken liver pate on toasted slices of baguette. When the yakitory started to come out one at a time, we started with rare breast meat with salt. I’ve never had rare chicken but, apparently, this place has such healthy chickens and so much control over the meat that they can serve it rare. It was lovely. This was followed by skewers of liver, skin, sausage, tomato, mushrooms and finally thigh meat alternating with leeks. The hostess then brought us a hot cup of chicken broth to top it off. All the meat was chicken except for what I think was octopus at the beginning and my son thought was chicken tendons. They were chewy. With four beers, one sake and three set meals our bill was ¥18,000. Not cheap but it was an expeiience I’m glad we tried. The liver and skin were not inedible but I would not order them again.

“Great yakitori”
Not sure why all the bad reviews. I have to guess that people had high expectations because of the Michelin star. This is not the burnt to a crisp yakitori that you find on every street corner in Japan. This is a master chef cooking quality meat to perfection. We took the Chef's Omakase Menu and l...oved it. The meat was always perfectly cooked (not charred) and masterfully seasoned. The device is impressively well paced as you do not wait at any time, which is hard to do when customers are all at different courses. The ground chicken meat ball yakitori was a personal favourite. Highly recommend you try this when in Tokyo. It is a little hard to find as t is in the basement of The Suit Company. It is the neighbour of Jiro Ono's sushi restaurant.
