In the small castle town of Odawara, near the Ninomiya Temple, lies a small French restaurant "La Matiere", owned and operated by husband and wife Tsutomu san and Yumi san. There is a lot of character, heart, and spirit which you can immediately feel upon entering the restaurant which seats only 12.... You can see it in the choice of silverware, platters, decor, and the arrangement and selection of the wine glasses which are labeled in French, of course, but especially, in the warm and gentle faces of the husband and wife. Yumi san runs the front of the house and Tsutomu san, of course, is the chef. Only the two of them run this restaurant. I believe what makes the food taste so good lies not only in the ingredients but, in the people who put their heart and dedication in every dish that they execute. This is true in both the kitchen and in the front of the house. Utilizing only the freshest in seasonal ingredients and staying true to French cuisine, Tsutomu san Yumi san deliver an unforgettable dining experience. I look foward again to dining in this place called "La Matiere".
