“A bit disappointed ”
To me, It’s fame was way bigger than how its food actually tasted. Not really that good, or should say, there are much more other better Unadon restaurants in Tokyo You can really save your time waiting in line at Irokawa for trying other ones. Search for : Tokyo Unadon, Kate’s Fun Zone. for more ...detail and intro

“Expensive”
Family managed to get sitting as place was not crowded due to rains. Had the unagi rice but it's really expensive though, ¥3500. After eating so many unagis, cannot say this is tops. Personally I like it grilled more.

“One of the best Unaju (ell rice bowl) in Japan”
This place has a long history and famous for being favourites for many known people in the past. They basically only have Unaju (eel rice bowl), and it is not by no means the cheapest place, but it is great. I think their Unaju is one of the best in Tokyo (meaning in the world). You might need to w...ait, but the quality of the food and the authentic experience of an old Japanese restaurant make this place totally worth it.

“Real Japanese cuisine”
We heard about this legendary restaurant of Grilled eel or Unagi since 5 years ago. This is the first time of our visit, so we prepare to queue up since 10.40 (50 mins before opening time @ 11.30). Yes indeed ! we got the first queue LOL. Most of people came around 11.15 and finally the door opened.... Restaurant has only 12-14 seats (5-6 seats at bar just in front of the stove / another 8 seats is at 2 tables) and filled up suddenly. The old lady prepared most of the stuff by her own. I guess the young lady is her daughter who took care of the queue / cashier/ and equipment preparation. Don't hesitate to order the large one. It is not that big. Only 3 pieces of Eel compared to 2 pieces of standard size. Grill is soft, fresh, skinny, and tasty. Actually, food itself would be 5 stars but I would rate it only 4 stars due to limited resources and extremely expensive compared to other meals. I totally understood that this restaurant is not a kind of mass commercial but prefer to keep it like the household restaurant in Japanese way. Still highly recommend to try once in a lifetime.

“Worth a try”
The old fashioned way of grilling eel on charcoal gives it a smoky aroma which is absolutely worth a try, and perfect with rice. Even the broth was made well and a very delicate accompaniment. Definitely a step above the average unagi, though still not worth the price point in my opinion . Worth a ...try nevertheless, but maybe just that once.
