4.5 overall. We 4 had dinner with a couple bottles of wine; this was the third visit for two of us. Reservations recommended. FOOD: 4.5. Nicely done and basic French cuisine. - 4.5: Terrine de cepes (appetizer). Foie gras, salad, etc. - 5.0: Chevreuil rôti (main). Luscous roast venison with sausage.... - 4.5: Tarte aux Pomme (dessert) - 4.5: Gateau de Fromage de Basques (dessert) SERVICE: 4.0. Efficient and considerate. AMBIANCE: 4.0. (Several people were turned away after us). Reasonable price. FOOD: 4.5. We both had set courses. Portions were generous. - her course: scallops, fish (with eggs), chocolate terrine - my course: salad with camembert, deer, "purine" (like crème brulée without caramelized crust.) WINE: 4.0. I was ready to be disappointed, but was not. We ordered the house red wine and got lucky with a decent Syrah (Châteauneuf du Pape). SERVICE: 5.0. Everyone was kind, patient, and attentive. AMBIANCE: 4.5. Pleasant, warm interior with red-checkered tablecloths.

We were recommended to this place by a local. We arrived with no booking on a Thursday night around 7.30 p.m. and got a small table. It was a very busy place but we got excellent service from a french waiter. The food was very well cooked with plentiful servings and all very tasty. I had duck an...d my husband had lamb. Both were still red in the middle and I don't think there was any option about getting it done a bit more. In any event, we both enjoyed our meals. The pate and terrine were both plentiful servings and tasty. Food alone was a reasonable price. The wine was excellent but very expensive. Good for a special occasion but too pricey overall to go every day. Its been there 50 years so well established with its own local clientele. Not many tourists.
