Our 1st visit to Tokyo ever, and we were very excited to get a dinner reservation. Lucky our Uber driver had been here before so he could point to the unmarked entrance. Once you open the door you step into magic. The lovely hostess welcomed us and escorted us to the counter where Chef awaited. Ver...y understated and spiritual atmosphere where the Chef and Sommelier greeted us. We were alone, later joined by one other couple at the counter. The Chef and his team worked in silent unison putting together each course and serving us themselves. Creative, beautiful and delicious with lovely wine pairings. As we finished each course it was a lot of fun to look forward to next course. Cannot begin to describe how delicious and beautiful each course was. Just the right amount of chatting with the staff and just sitting enjoying the courses. And at the end of the meal they called us a cab as it was drizzling outside. As we stood outside out came the chef and hostess who waited with us holding umbrellas so that we stayed dry. Each walked us to the cabs and said goodbye. Truly best meal and experience coming from a couple that loves to travel and eat all over the world.

Simply an extraordinary experience! We sat at the counter where we watched the Chef/owner Shinji Ishida prepare each of our 12 courses delivered with a perfect wine pairing for each by co-owner Sommelier Yasuhide Tobita. We ate fresh local ingredients, including over a dozen different types of fish ...prepared with unique vegetables and sauces. The wines (and 1 sake) ranged from Burgundy, Greece, South Australia to local Japanese varietals. Even more than the food, wine and beauty of each course’s presentation was the hospitality and kindness shown by the owners. Chef Ishida spoke limited English, but still presented personally in English each dish and a summary of the ingredients. Sommelier Tobita spoke good English and conversed with us throughout the evening, giving us background on not just the wines served, but on Japanese cuisine and dining customs. We felt very well cared for by these proprietors and believe this turned a very nice meal into an extraordinary experience.

Our best meal so far. We were treated with care and respect, each dish was incredible. Staff knew enough English to make us feel doubly welcome. Don’t pass this seasonal meal up! One Michelin star doesn’t feel like enough.

To start with, wonderful place. The Chef was awesome, introducing himself personally to us, speaking English and describing every course. The wait staff was awesome too! Contrary to so other reviews, we could not have been more happy with the service. Yes, the courses focused on Japanese foods, so d...on’t expect anything else. While it was a great deal to eat, and we coupled it with the wine/sake flight, it was not too much. It is a hard place to find, tucked into a residential district. So, don’t be early or expect to get in before 6 pm. Otherwise, enjoy if and when in Tokyo!

GO. Dont wait, experience food at the counter. One of the best. An experience and had dishes we had not had elsewhere.
