Loved everything about this place - the sushi was outstanding, the vibe intimate & authentic, and the staff and fellow guests were super friendly. Made for a very memorable lunch!

Sushi Arai is truly a gem. Definitely our favorite restaurant of our 2019 food trip to Tokyo. We started out with the yummy yuzu Shirako chawanmushi. Then went on 16 more items. We ended with a clam soup and tamagoyaki. Everything was scrumptious. The bonito was divine. Do yourself a favor and book ...yourself a reservation. We booked the “tourist’s counter” lunch via pocket concierge 😂. Also a delight that our chef was friendly.

This was not only best sushi experience but also one of the best meals I have ever had. Every bite was made to perfection. There were many favourite pieces but also some new ones. The quality of the sushi was exceptional and every bite a culinary experience. I am never going to be able go to a sushi... restaurant in London again. We were at the second counter with some other foreigners but our sushi chef not only was excellent but also very kind and hospitable. He explained the various fish on the menu and was very engaging. Thank you Watanabe San for an u forgettable meal. Until we come back to Tokyo.

Had a really great selection of sushi here, particularly the Kinmedai red snapper, Shiro ebi, Chutoro, and Toro sushi, which were sublime. The chef could speak basic English and was very jovial and accommodating, much less stiff than most temples of Sushi e.g. Jiro.
