餃子の王さま

餃子百名店コンプリートの一環として、浅草にある「餃子の王さま」に訪問しました。浅草駅から徒歩5分前後、雷門通りから少し入った場所にあり、観光客が多いエリアながら、店の前には地元の常連と思われる方の姿も多く見られます。長年この場所で営業を続けてきた店であることが自然と伝わってきました。 1954年（昭和29年）創業とされる老舗餃子専門店で、訪問時も行列ができており、常連客と観光客の双方に支持されている様子がうかがえます。 この日は複数の餃子を食べ比べました。看板の「王さまの餃子」は野菜比率が高く、肉の主張を抑えた構成で、焼きというより揚げ焼きに近いカリッとした食感が印象的です。青森県産ニンニ...クを使用しているとされ、食後の重さが出にくい点も好印象でした。 肉餃子は一般的な餃子に近い味わいで、湯餃子はもっちりした皮と肉の存在感が際立ちます。スープ餃子は野菜がたっぷり入り、見た目以上に食べ応えのある一品でした。 チャーハンは派手さはありませんが、パラパラとした食感と控えめな味付けで完成度が高く、餃子と合わせて満足感のある構成です。全体として、流行を追うのではなく、長年積み重ねてきたバランスで支持され続けている理由がよく分かる一軒でした。 【English Review】 As part of my journey to visit all of Tokyo’s famous gyoza restaurants, I stopped by Gyoza no Osama in Asakusa. The restaurant is located about a five-minute walk from Asakusa Station, slightly off the main tourist streets. Despite the busy surroundings, the line was a mix of locals and visitors, suggesting that this place has long been rooted in the neighborhood. Gyoza no Osama is said to have been established in 1954, and it clearly carries the atmosphere of a long-standing, traditional gyoza restaurant. Even during my visit, there was a steady line, reflecting its continued popularity. I tried several types of gyoza. The signature “Osama Gyoza” stood out for its high vegetable content and relatively light filling. The texture was crisp, almost like lightly deep-fried, rather than simply pan-fried. Garlic is used, reportedly from Aomori Prefecture, but the flavor is gentle and not overpowering. The meat gyoza felt more familiar and hearty, while the boiled gyoza featured soft, chewy wrappers with a satisfying bite inside. The soup gyoza was surprisingly filling, packed with vegetables and offering more substance than expected. The fried rice, though visually simple, had an excellent balance of flavor and texture, complementing the gyoza well. Overall, this restaurant doesn’t chase trends but instead delivers consistent, well-balanced gyoza that explains why it has remained popular for decades.

This was really a hidden diamond- small place, but with such a lovely and friendly staff and amazing home style food. Would definitely like to be back!

Good place small but the food is good and the service is great. Good portion great for lunch. Fried pork real good.
