“Ethereal Japanese food with a Chinese accent”
This review is for English speaking people. 1) The restaurant in #86 on Time Out Tokyo's 100 best restaurants in Tokyo. Even so you need to speak Japanese or have a Japanese friend go with you -- you won't be able to find it (small sign only in kanji, near a wine restaurant) and there is no English ...aside from the wine menu; 2) For dinner, two or three tasting menus only. For a serious foodie, this is a sublime experience. This is NOT Chinese food but wafu-Chinese of an extremely high order. In other words, its Japanese food with a strong Chinese accent, something different from both. Its subtle and wonderful. Don't go if you only want "regular" Chinese food. 3) Every dish is exquisite, beautiful, amazing attention to detail, creative and thoughtful, highest quality ingredients locally sourced or regional, plus attentive immaculate service. A few private rooms and a counter, stark wood and very pretty in an austere way. 4) The dinner set menu is a lot of food, they will let you take it home (very gracious). 5) Its quite expensive. Quite. They do take credit cards. This restaurant would be a cult hit in NYC but its doubtful if there will ever be such a restaurant in North America.
