蕎麦懐石 義 恵比寿

Stumbled upon this "well-hidden" gem. Just steps away from Ebisu garden place. Watch out for their signs as they are easily missed. Loved the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. You will be warmly greeted by the staffs. English menu is available. I recommend sitting at the beautiful wooden counter so you ...can enjoy all the action. Head chef (mr saito) speaks eng and is very willing to enlighten guests with soba facts. I got the sashimi-soba set and loved every dish served (chilled corn-tofu with dashi jello, sashimi of assorted fresh fish, freshly made soba (walnut or regular dipping sauce), finished off with tai-takikomi rice). Can't wait to go back again and try their walnut dipping sauce~ 大人向けなオシャレ蕎麦屋さん。ビルの地下一階なのでちょっと見つけにくいですが、見つけたらラッキって感じです。刺身蕎麦定食を頼んだが、箸が止まりません(トウモロコシ豆腐だしピュレ添いは絶品です) クルミだれもあるので嬉しかった！また次回伺うことが楽しみにしています。

A new open in Ebisu, Soba Kaiseki is only 5 mins from Ebisu Garden Place. We visited for lunch but we were so lucky to try the soba as Chef/manager Saito only makes 20 portions for the lunch sitting. I opted for the seasonal special - Italian truffle soba - because who can say no truffle?! The noodl...es were perfection and the egg melded beautifully with the lightly creamy sauce. I also sampled the grilled fish, which showed off Saito san's washoku training. So excited to have found such quality, reasonably priced too! Don't miss this place if you love soba!

I had the sampler set (otameshi set) for lunch, it is a soba seiro with 2 dips (tsuyu and walnut sauce). Noodles are among the best I ever had - perfect taste/texture/firmness. Do keep some of the tsuyu for mixing with the soba-yu (cooking water of the soba) at the end of the meal. It is one of t...hose few places where soba-yu is not boring tepid water but indeed a tasty bouillon that combines with the tsuyu into a delicious soup. Excellent cost-performance (1000 JPY for this set at lunch). The place recently opened it seems, and is a bit hard to find. I have to thank serendipity for stumbling upon it! I will definitely visit again.
