“Great Italian restaurant”
Probably the best Italian restaurant I've found abroad. Lovely atmosphere, good style and a good jazz background music. The waitress also speaks good Italian, with a nice Piemontese accent. "Pappardelle al Cinghiale", "tagliolini ai funghi porcini" and "tagliolini al tartufo" were just delicious! Th...ey have a good selection of wines and also the Italian "home made" beer Flea (I tasted their IPA style beer). Also the tiramisù and the semifreddo alla nocciola were very good. If you are in Kichijōji, I strongly recommend this restaurant!

“Great restaurant, food-centric and good service”
Walking around a rainy Kichijoji we were almost tempted by a couple of pasta'n'pizza joints nearby... then saw a murky little menu and stairs to an upstairs restaurant. On the premise that they probably paid more to their food suppliers than their landlord we went up, and we were not disappointed.... Negatives first: the portions were small and the focaccia a little dry. Everything else was excellent. The service is knowledgeable, pairing regional food with regional wines (we delegated the choice of wines to the maitre d', which was a great call). Although the menu isn't overly long the range of tastes and textures was excellent. The decor is sort of rustic-chic-minimalist. Standouts were the polenta and spinach soup, and the crema catalana. We ordered almost at random around the menu and everything was good. We ate early, around 6:30. After 7:30, the local crowd gradually started to come in, a good sign, and by the time we left the restaurant was almost full. Not really our neighbourhood, but an excellent find. We paid about JPY15,000 for 5 dishes which we shared, and 5 small glasses of wine each; we felt this was great value for the experience.
