This experience was first rate! It was an intimate setting with seats for 10 people. The chefs conversed in English with us and had a great sense of humour. The sushi was truly delicous. Highly recommend.

Visiting my daughter in Tokyo, sushi is my desire. I have gastroparesis which means quality over quantity. We looked at the Michelin list but that wasn’t happening. My daughter’s boyfriend found a shop near the New Sanno Hotel we were staying at. We passed by many times going to the train statio...n but never looked into the alley. A very plain white front with the name in raised relief “SushiShin” is where the “plain” stopped. Entering we were warmly greeted by the staff and directed to our seats by our chef to the counter. The menu is omakase, which the chef decides what you get, they ask what you CAN NOT eat and prefer not too, then it’s up to him. If on limited budget contact them first. Let get started with our meal. 18-19 courses Tuna sushi Since my daughter and myself were the only two non-Japanese; my reaction to his tuna sushi set the tone, it was to die for, and my reaction validated his artistry. Sea urchin and shrimp Sesame tofu toasted with vinegar Egg custard soup with mushroom and eel Puffer fish/fugu with grated truffle and drizzle Conk with organ Butterfish grilled (fav) Squid (wonderful) Shad with ginger Sea urchin with sea urchin rice/seasoned with wasabi 3 sweet shrimp Sea bass (fav) Sardine Awabi/abalone local pickle with seaweed wrap Warm eel sushi (fav) Sweet egg omelet/ dashimaki egg White miso soup The ingredients are prepared in a box which chefs selected for your serving, they then do the final preparation, considering he using a 12 inch knife for some paper thin servings it’s amazing. Miwa molded the rice, dab of wasabi and topping, to change what they offer would be rude. We were surprised and honored the chef followed us to the door and bowed till we were out of site

We received a recommendation from a friend to visit this restaurant. Reserved last minute. The restaurant was full, and there were last 2 spots for us. The staff speaks some english. There was no menu, or maybe there was but we did not understand. The chef started serving us their standard evening m...enu right away, and this was the best ever. There is no words to describe it. The freshest and softest fish, amazing crab, wonderful dessert. The best restaurant to pick for the last night in Japan. The guests seemed to be only Japanese. Very attentive and nice service. Explained us every type of fish we had. Most solid 5 stars ever.
