We were a large group of 17. We visited for dinner. If you want a quiet evening, this is probably not your place. The staff are entertaining and can be loud. We experienced fun (but unobtrusive) interaction with them. The service was efficient and friendly. There is one giant table in the mi...ddle with the food and cooking area, and two chefs cooking the food in front of you. Seating runs around the giant table in a bar-type setup. I counted approximately 22 seats in total. When we first walked in I was unsure I would enjoy it as I was tired, but it was a memorable and valued experience. As per other reviews, there is no menu, they serve you various small dishes throughout the evening. I lost count of how many but we were all full when we left. We drank beer and Saki, all very good and the food was very tasty. I am a vegetarian and they made a special effort to ensure I was well catered for, along with the meat and fish eaters. I saw reviews regarding the price. In my view, you are paying for great food and entertainment and I found it memorable and worth the spend. I get that it could be hefty if unexpected though, so maybe the restaurant could make pricing clearer - it is a shame they are getting negative reviews on price.

I did not intend to write a negative review because the food was very fresh and good and the meal was entertaining. However, when I left the restaurant and calculated that I had just paid €378 for some fish, two small pieces of meat, a few vegetables and a beer each for two people, I felt completely... taken advantage of. There was no menu, no prices anywhere and no itemized bill. I even wondered if I had not mistakenly been given the bill for a larger party that was there. Especially because the night prior we had been to another Robata in Shinjuku with much the same menu except for a small, whole grilled fish and two (overcooked) prawns and paid €63 for the two of us. I then read other reviews for Roppongi Robataya and this outrageous pricing without justification seems to be their M.O. Feeling ripped off just leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth no matter how fresh the food is.

Pricey but I enjoyed the experience! Delicious food and fun cosy atmosphere! It is nice for a one time visit - I would say visit with an open mind and as an experience

Avoid at all costs! If your hotel recommended this restaurant, cancel the reservation as quickly as possible. This restaurant should not be in business. Please read all of the 1 star reviews. It’s the same complaint: way overpriced for what you get. We spent $350 for 2 adults, 1 child. For what? ...Some grilled vegetables, 1 beef skewer, 2 skewered shrimp and one grilled fish. The place is laughable and obnoxious. What a joke for a restaurant. You will not find a single local Japanese customer there. All tourists.
