“Succulent Unagi Beautifully Prepared!”
Kawagoe is famous for Eel Dishes (Eel used to be found in these rivers) so many restaurants to choose from. My friend took us to thi Little-Bit-Hard-to-Find Restaurant but the authentic atmosphere of this area is just as it used to be, a real hundred-year time-slip! The eel was perfectly grilled, w...ith a flavorful sauce that wasn't too sweet or overwhelming. The eel melted-in-our-mouth, so soft.

“A hidden gem!”
We chanced upon this restaurant tucked away in a corner in 2017 when visiting Candy Street in Kawagoe. We enjoyed the food very much, especially the warabi mochi dessert, that we decided to make a special trip to eat here again when we were recently in Japan. The tempura soba we had was simply wond...erful. The prawn tempura was easily the best that I have ever tasted in Japan. The batter was light and the prawns were firm and sweet. The warabi mochi still tasted as good as the last time. Unlike most places, their warabi mochi was served in iced water and we picked each piece up to dip in sweet molasses and sesame powder. Simply heavenly! We noticed that quite a few customers ordered unagi. We don't know if it tasted good as we both don't like eel. The restaurant is divided into an uper floor and lower floor. Service was good and attentive but the staff could not speak English - not that it posed a problem. Credit cards are accepted at this restaurant. If you are in Kawagoe and visit Candy Street, do stop by here for a meal. For sure, we will be eating here again during our next visit to Japan.
