すごい煮干ラーメン凪 西新宿７丁目店

This Ramen got a very rich broth that blend well with my taste. I recommended to all visitors who wish to come in Tokyo for a delicious and different than basic type Ramen!

Hard to find but worth the effort. It’s a tiny little place up a narrow set of steps in the Golden Gai. Expectant diners wait in line in the alley before being called to ascend the stairs to a tiny, rather cramped upstairs area. Once there you are shown to a stool in front of a narrow eating bench. ...Your Ramen, as ordered in the ticket machine, will then be delivered. With it’s rich fishy broth it may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but once you sink your teeth into those noodles.... !!!

We read about it in Lonely Planet but it was difficult to locate for lunch because it is in an area that caters to night life. We found their sign but walked around the block a couple of times before spotting someone opening their almost invisible door. We followed and found a very narrow tight sta...ircase up to the 'dining area'. You order and pay from a vending machine (and then wait downstairs if no seats are available) but all 10 seats are stools tightly pressed against a shallow bar. It was a fun experience but we ordered the special (sardine flavored) and while we like fishy flavored things, this was too much. Not being able to speak the language I would never be able to figure out a different flavor that appealed to me more. And the ramen noodles were large and tough and I prefer smaller silkier ramen, Hey, just my preference. Still a fun experience.

If you like to damage your kidneys go ahead and eat at this place. But first you have to wait in line through a narrow alley, then climb up what seems like a ladder (small steps and very steep) to get to the top only to find out there are just10 stools in a counter-type seating. It was so tight I fe...lt like I was eating inside a closet!!! Worst than going through that was the ramen!! It was sooooooo salty! Felt like a whole cup of salt was dissolved in my bowl. The flavor was too fishy strong. We asked for hot water to dilute but they refused to provide any. We ended up not eating the broth & I just tried to finish as much noodles as I could because i didn't want my 1000yen to completely go to waste. But i still left about 2/3 of it, couldn't take more & left. My sister had about 2 bites & left. My father loves salt and he likes everything he eats to be salty, too much for my taste but even my father couldnt eat this ramen. And he said sitting in there felt like he was in an MRI chamber. Not a place for claustrophobic folks. Another bad thing was I was with my parents & we just wanted to share 2 bowls since the servings are huge. However when we handed the ramen chef 2 tickets, he asked my father to go back outside. They didn't want him to sit since he didn't order his own bowl. How rude@!!! We were then forced to buy another bowl. I will never ever go back to this place. In fact we even tried to discourage a few customers waiting in line to not bother going up. I wish I could get a refund. :-(

Best ramen I've ever had. The broth was highly flavorful, light in consistency and uniquely fishy. Anyone visiting Tokyo, I highly recommend going here for one of your meals. My father and I got there around 11 am on a weekday and didn't have to wait in line. However, when we exited the line was are...a during about 30+ people long. There's about room for 8-12? inside.. Get there early and enjoy ramen for breakfast!
