“Casual but with Class”
Tempura Yamanoue is a well-known hotel restaurant that recently opened a new branch at Ginza Six. Although situated inside a shopping mall, the spacious tempura house is casual but still with class. There are counter seats as well as long tables for big parties. The minimally decorated restaurant... allows diners to enjoy freshly made tempura without distractions and restrictions. Service is exceptional. Servers are friendly, helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable about their menu. Tempura dishes are not only hot and fresh, the tempura batter is light and crispy. Ingredients such as shrimps, lotus and mushrooms are superb and of high quality. Lunch sets are reasonably priced from JPY 6,000/person to JPY 12,000/person, and are quite fulfilling.

“Light, fresh, quality”
Located on the top floor of a Ginza building, some city views of you sit at the table. Sitting at the bar you can enjoy the chefs making your food. The oil is changed after every serving, so no strange smells or anything like that. Fresh, light, good quality. Set menu is the best option. The food co...mes one by one, so you eat slowly by definition, which is a healthy thing to do. Set me yes are between 8-12’yen. So, it’s anything but fast food. Our lunch took less than an hour. Enjoyed. Yes, not cheap, like everything else in this city.

“Great location and a nice Tempura joint”
After reading some reviews here, I want to say something about these famous Tempura joints. They are not cheap and tempura is an art form. They also don't expect you to order a la carte and while their course menus are not cheap, they are reasonable. Lunch is also always cheaper so go for their l...unches if you have to stick with a budget. Since we had a large party, we were told in advance we had to pre-order, which was reasonable. Since we had some elderly family members, they were flexible enough to allow us to only pre-order six 8000 JPY course menu. In the end, we were hungry enough and added two 12,000 JPY course menus, and also ordered some oyster tempura, which was delicious. However, if you are not a fish fan, I will not come here for dinner because all courses will involve fish and some types of eel. I will just come for lunch ordering one of the Ten Dons (tempura over rice) and adding a few a la carte items. While I have better tempura experience, the location of this restaurant, Tempura Yamanoue Ginza, is excellent that I won't hesitate to come back for lunch.

“Average taste but high priced!”
Went there on the recommendation of our hotel staff, turns out it’s average taste but at usd400 it’s not so worth it.

“NOT Recommended!”
We like Tempura! No, that is not accurate - We LOVE Tempura! So when we are in Tokyo, when we are in the Ginza, it would make a lot of sense to eat some Tempura, right? Our attempts to do so did not produce the desired results. My wife's research lead us to a restaurant that I will not name here.... When we arrived by taxi, we were impressed by its location in the Ginza. Likewise, we were impressed when we entered. We were confused when they had us sit in the entryway and handed us the menu. Then we realized that we were limited to 6 fixed-menu choices. Not only were most of the items on the various alternatives NOT Tempura, the cost of each choice ranged UP from the equivalent of US$200/person. I mean we LOVE Tempura, but at US$400 or up for dinner? We left without a destination in mind. Fortunately, the Hyatt was only a few doors down the street. Their concierge was most helpful and provided us a recommendation that sounded perfect. Her guidance was to Tempura Yamanoue Ginza. Not a long walk. A little difficult to find (on the top floor of a really classy shopping mall). Pleasant ambiance and warm greeting from the staff. But also almost empty, except 4 Japanese businessmen having drinks and dinner together. When we got the English language menu, we were a bit surprised to see that a serving of shrimp tempura was US$20 while mushroom, asparagus, onion, and squash were US$7 or US$8 apiece. The second surprise came when my wife asked about the serving size. The reply was one piece of each. One piece of Tempura Shrimp cost US$20. One piece of asparagus Tempura was US$8, etc. We decided to order rather than leave. So we ordered 3 shrimp and two each for the others mentioned. This review is already too long. So, briefly - The price, for us, was steep (approximately US$100), but fine, if justified by the meal. Unfortunately, it was not! Not even close! Only the mushroom Tempura rose to acceptable levels. The others were simply the quality one might find a shopping mall food court. We, most definitely CANNOT Recommend the Temoura Yamanoue Ginza.
