“rubber like meat”
the worst yakiniku meat I ever eat in Japan. I think the problem was in the fire that too weak that it took so long to cook the meat properly. But even without that excuse, the rice was also bad. The salad and yuzu sorbet was good but I wish the server use tray to bring them

“Tried to charge a "common sense tip"”
First, the restaurant allows smoking in all areas which we didn't realize at first. We rang the bell for service at our table after some smokers arrived but no one came, we eventually found a staff to complain to and were reseated. Only place in Japan I've ever been to where the staff didn't come ...immediately, and they definitely were not short on staff. After the meal, they tried to charge a tip. There is no tipping in Japan. They tried to pass it off as a "common sense tip" whatever that's supposed to mean. I think it's just them trying to take advantage of a group of gaijin. We argued with them, as the menus don't say anything about a mandatory tip, we were not notified in advance, and tipping is not a Japanese custom. Japan is full of great restaurants, avoid this one at all costs. Bad service and trying to take advantage of the customer.
