“Pleasant”
I was searching around for another listed restaurant. But as google could not locate it I walked into this one. It’s a nice venue off the beaten track with a menu focused in Italian cuisine. Not really what I was after. I chose the fish set meal which tasted nice but not sure I got the Otaru taste I... was looking for.

“Nice environment”
Small portion but good quality and reasonable price! Enjoyed the nice interior and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant is located very close to the canal with parking space. Suitable for family and group. Will visit again next time. 量はやや少なめだが、とても美味しくて満足できました!特に自家製パンはおすすめです。店の雰囲気がとても素敵です。また機会がありましたら訪問したい...と思います!

“Like Arnold Schwartznegger, We Came Back”
We came here in 2014 and in a return trip to Hokkaido this year it was high on our list of priorities. We managed two meals here again. It is so good! The crab spaghetti and paella were magnificent. My only regret was that I didn't get to have their crab gratin again. The restaurant seems a lot more... popular now and both times it was a squeeze to get in. Just come early is the best advice. The chef/owner does all of the cooking and his wife the tables. I would like to take this restaurant home with me!

“So Good we had to Return”
This was one of the standout restaurants in our ten day Hokkaido trip. We had planned to go to Uminekoya nearby for their much-vaunted crab spaghetti but it was closed. Mangiare Takinami just within sight is identified by a cherry tree outside although in October it was not in bloom. The interior o...f the stone building had high vaulted ceilings and a cosy atmosphere. We ordered a seafood paella and although taking 40 minutes to prepare it was really something. Classic crusty rice around the edge of the paella pan, vongole or tiny clams, prawns, crab, little tiny stuffed squid and lemon wedges in a beautifully flavoured rice. We had a half bottle of chianti to help it down. Reminiscing on this the next day we decided on a repeat performance and headed off there again for lunch. This time it was crab spaghetti and a lip-smacking crab and rice gratin. This time the proprietor/chef came out to take our orders and gave us a big send-off when we left. We travel to Japan once a year and usually cover new territory all the time. I think we might have to re-visit Otaru.
