“Best sushi in my life”
Omakase, a of course of sashimi, sushi, soup by chef's choice was like a memorable story. Once you sit at the counter, chefs, father and son, start creating beautiful sashimi and sushi one by one. I love sushi, but their sushi was by far the best sushi I had In my life. Fresh ingredients of course, ...but the way they present was so beautiful, each piece of sushi was like an art. Budget $100-150 per person which is not bad for this type of restaurant and it is well worth it. I am very happy by having a chance to eat here. Definitely come back.

“Extraordinarily good sushi - Jiro of the North.”
Maruzushi is a small family run counter style sushi restaurant. In the 2012, and only, edition of the Michelin Guide Maruzushi was awarded one star. It probably deserved more. The sushi here is exquisite. On a par with some higher profile and more highly rated sushi joints in Tokyo. The service is a...lso second to none. We were made feel very welcome. When we arrived, a family of 4 with 2 very young children, we were told it was early and quiet so it was okay. Many sushi restaurants won't allow kids under 12. These places are so small they don't want little kids ruining the ambience for other customers. And, again, we were made welcome. The chef and his son, the assistant chef, both spoke English and they happily chatted with us over the course of our meal. About what we were eating and where it was from, where we had been in Japan and just how good Jiro in Tokyo is. We're always asked if there is anything we can't eat. It makes sushi chefs very happy when you say you'll eat anything. The sushi was superb. Each piece delicate and perfectly seasoned or basted with oil or sprinkled with herbs or not seasoned at all - whatever suited that piece of fish best. The o-toro was the best we've had in some time. The sushi was every bit as good as any three starred sushi restaurant in Tokyo but half the price. He made special smaller pieces of sushi for the kids. It bears repeating, this sushi was monumentally good. Dessert was local strawberries. Probably some of the sweetest most delicious strawberries we've had. We have had some hugely memorable meals in some of the better sushi restaurants in Japan but this was one of the best experiences we've had. A combination of the food, the service and happy ambience. The kids were even presented with souvenir head bands just like the chefs wore. It does not get any better than this. Maruzushi is highly recommended. I'd suggest making a reservations.

“Memorable sushi course”
RSVP is a must. The staffs are very nice, and the chef also speaks some english. Although it is pricy, i think it's very worth it (this is my personal opinion, since i am comparing to pricy sushi restaurants in tokyo). The chef presents some sushis from the japanese comic book and actually said "...shota-no sushi" lol Since this place is in hokkaido, try the uni and ikura sushi.
