We had to peek into the entrance to realise that we were at a Japanese fine-dining restaurant. The facade from the road does not advertise the restaurant....it is just a grey looking longish block. You need to book in advance!. There are only four rooms, 1 upstairs and 3 on the ground floor. Eac...h can accommodate up to 6 guests in a muted but elegant tatami setting. We managed to find an open slot for lunch the next day. Dinner was fully booked for all the 3 nights we were in the area. Only set meals are available: a choice of meat or non-meat. The 5-course lunch was priced at Y3,500. The meal was a mind-blowing experience. Served by Yoshi, the only English speaking member of the staff, we enjoyed the meticulous attention to presentation, blend of colours, textures and tastes that came with each course. One dish in particular was bite-sized octopus slices with pear and persimmon, autumn vegetables in a light piquant sauce. Delightful to the eye and taste. For the ambience, service and food this is one of the best-value meals we have had anywhere!

I'm always impressed by Japanese service attitude in restaurants or shopping stores. The service as what some reviewers have reported is excellent. Our English speaking host a polite young man named Mr Yoshii explained all the nice dishes so we could understand what we ate. We opted for the dinner ...course without crabs and was impressed by the freshness of the ingredients. We love sea urchin and just had some costing jy 1200 each at the morning market in the morning, but could immediately taste the difference with that served at Fumoto. I believe every ingredient has been painstakingly selected for serving customers here. Price for our set was around jy7000 plus and total bill was jy39123 for 5 sets which included tea and 3 fruit juices. Even the baby chair for my 8 month grandson was thoughtfully prepared on our arrival. I would definitely come back if given a chance.

I am very impressed with this Restuarant. I have booked many Michelin Star Restaurants and this one is one of the Greatest one. The welcome is superb and guid me and my wife to Private room. The table has been properly set. The food come out nicely. I chose the course around 9,000 Yen and avoid Hair...y Crab and I have more than enough to eat. The Taste and Decoration are great at Superior class. I would be back if I have a chance.

Restaurant is just steps away from the tram station and near the ropeway station so it made a good lunch stop before heading up the ropeway. Lunch courses are more affordable than dinner. It seems like a small place and very quiet we didn't see anyone else besides ourselves and our service staff. Fo...od was good, delicate and fresh however not wow (!) impact compared to other Michelin starred traditional Japanese cuisine I have experienced before. Courses are indeed served very quickly, my entire lunch meal was completed in just over 1hr but staff was polite enough to ask if we needed more time before dessert was served. It was a quiet peaceful dining experience , our attendant was very polite and explained each dish to us in fairly good English.

Not that good as expected.Food is ordinary.Can get better food in many places in Hokadate or Hokkaido.Service too fast,ie new dishes arrived before we finish our existing ones.
