We loved Robata for a few reasons: #1 - it's a very small tavern/restaurant and it's quite an old-style decor #2 - the chef/owner is very friendly #3 - the food is excellent (ask for the set menu if you can't speak Japanese) #4 - the price is acceptable for the food quality

The ambience of Robata is one of its kind from its cosy seating around the hearth, to its quirky owner, decor and the traditional music playing in the background. Given its layout where most of the diners sit almost shoulder to shoulder around the hearth, it was lovely to be able to strike up frien...dly conversations. For a tiny kitchen helmed by 2 elderly ladies, they were so efficient in churning out dishes, and every dish was on point especially their yakitori pork, chicken skin, fried Yamaimo, Hokke and stir fried pork liver. Their garlic fried rice served with a raw egg was also very moreish. They also served some good sakes, and we particularly liked the unfiltered one. Dessert was fresh strawberries drizzled with condensed milk - how can anyone resist that? Robata is a tiny izakaya so reservations are a must.

This is a new hotel and we came so we can to check it out (did not stay). This was also during Covid (August 2020) and also during the Summer so a lot of the hotel was closed but we were free to wanted through the public areas and also through some of the common area of the residential part of the H...yatt. The finishing and the design were, of course, absolutely fantastic, as one would expect for the Hyatt. We had a fun time looking around and the staff were very helpful. We ended up staying for lunch at Robata. Or at least I think that was the name. It was a mix of some Japanese dishes and more contemporary cuisine and even something for the kids, so everyone was happy. The view was also prefect! Look forward to coming back to stay!

We made a return visit to Robata after a 12 month absence. Upon entering you are immediately made to feel welcome. The decor is eclectic on steroids in a charming only-in-Japan way. The drinks come out quickly and cold! The food is adequate but for me it's more about the unique atmosphere. We ordere...d a la carte and enjoyed the grilled fish and yakitori in particular. The place is tiny and the seats around the bar counter are the most sought after. You really can't help but have a great night here.
