“Long waits, tiny portions, over-priced -- avoid”
Something is wrong with the approach at Picchu. It should not take 45 minutes, post-ordering, to produce a baseball-sized mound of pasta, especially when there are only two other patrons in the entire place. I sense that long waits must be a common issue here, because the nice waiter proactively w...arned me that I would need to wait "20 - 30 minutes" for my food to be prepared. That turned out to be wishful thinking. (Then I witnessed him ask the chef if the food would be ready within 20 - 30 minutes, to which the chef, who veers towards the autistic end of the spectrum, did not respond.) While waiting, I whiled away the time drinking $12 glasses of wine, also exceedingly small--probably half the pour they should be. Not having learned my lesson by the time I finished eating my first order of pasta, I ordered a second pasta, as the first had not put a dent in my hunger. By this time, I was the only patron remaining in the restaurant, but this second pasta still took 30 minutes to produce. Yes, the pastas taste amazing, but the infinitesimal portion size comes nowhere close to justifying the prices--$25 for uni carbonara, $18 for yama wasabi. After 1.5 hours, a tiny appetizer, 2 pastas (combined maybe big enough to be considered one portion), and the equivalent of 1.5 glasses of wine, I asked for the check--$90. In the end, I left feeling both hungry and ripped off, dissatisfied enough to write this review, my first ever. I think the waiter has seen more than one angry patron in his day--the look on his face as he saw me out was one of apology.

“when you want a break from the japanese cuisine”
we had several nice dinners during our stay in Hokkaido and were looking for something simple that evening. Lodging in the centre of Sapporo we started checking out the places around the hotel, but they all seemed rather touristy, not for locals. And then we saw Picchu. We did not hesitate and were ...very happy with the find. The pasta is home made, the risotto not easy to make with the Japanese rice, still ok. Tasty light dinner. No long wait for us. Recommended.

“Delightful!”
My wife and I first visited Picchu in 2007, long before they moved to their present location. They were terrific then and they are still terrific today. Without a doubt, the best Italian in Sapporo. I’m looking forward to our next visit in 2020!

“Small frontage with a surprise inside. ”
This restaurant looks like a little cafe from outside as downstairs is the kitchen and a small bar to eat at, the full restaurant is upstairs. There was no one smoking inside (bonus in Japan). The waiter spoke excellent English and was able to explain the menu (listed in Japanese and Italian) and ...chatted too. The food was delicious, Italian with a uniquely Japanese feel to it. real value for money, excellent food and service.

“Great value, unexpected delight!”
We stopped by to see if they were open for lunch. Unfortunately, they only do dinner and my sister and I decided to change our train ticket and dine at 6pm. It was worth it. We requested if we can have dinner a bit rushed as the last train out was at 8pm. We had appetizers, two pastas, an entree and... two desserts within an hour. It was delicious. The waiter was so friendly and accommodating. Great time! Get the wasabi pasta, steak, and tiramisu!
