“Top notch fish dishes”
Booked by my better half as part of our honeymoon, and I was so impressed. The quality of the food is definitely how this place got its Michelin star. Don't get me wrong, the service is top notch, but I think this is pretty much the norm in most Japanese restaurants. It's always a good sign when the... taxi driver knows the place and tells you what a good fish restaurant it is. I'm not a fussy eater, but there's definitely plenty of stuff in Japan that my palate finds tricky. For example, I'm not sure I'd normally go into a restaurant and order something with tentacles - even if it was battered. This is the first meal I've had in which I've loved pretty much everything presented to me. I'd also recommend the sake pairings they offer, they really do complement the dishes, and opened my eyes as to how good sake could be. I promise the quantity of sake served is not the only reason I thought the food was good though! You'll love this place if you like fish. If you don't, it still might be worth a try, but seafood is traditionally their speciality. Although everything is in Japanese in terms of signage, the hostesses speak enough English to explain the ingredients of dishes and answer simple questions, just don't expect them to engage in the finer points of preparation unless you speak the local language.

“All we expected and much more”
We've just finished our meal at this fantastically unassuming Michelin star restaurant. We booked through Pocket Concierge and booked the "head chef's selection course with Fushimi sake pairing". This was our first experience of a Japanese Michelin star and we didn't know what to expect. If I'm ho...nest we've had so many nice meals in Japan, we weren't sure what Uosaburo could pull out of the bag to deserve its star, but it truly has not disappointed. I think what has differentiated it from the other meals we've had of the same type are the ingredients and the theatrics of the meal. The ingredients were clearly selected with care and attention and then prepared to perfection. The hostess was incredibly polite, as you'd expect, and while she did not speak fluent English, she managed to convey the ingredients of each course and answered any of the questions we had. The sake pairing adds an extra dimension to the meal as it allows you to experience the wider than expected spectrum of flavours the local sake has to offer. Up to now our experience of sake has been of a harsh alcoholic beverage best downed as quickly as possible, how wrong we have been! We have ventured to Japan for our honeymoon, and with that in mind, we have endeavoured to find the best experiences the country has to offer; Uosaburo was a great decision.

“Traditional fish restaurant”
We had a wonderful dinner, as always, in this fine restaurant. You are always welcomed with polite bow, taken to a private scented room. Kaiseki dishes always reflects the season and nicely decorated. My best dish was a bonito fumé. I assure you enjoy the food and its ambience there.
