“Delicious Shabu Shabu in Kyoto”
Visited this amazing Shabu Shabu restaurant while on family holiday in June 2023. We visited with our 3 children (primary school age and pre-school). There is a set menu for adults and also a children’s set menu. The restaurant was very accommodating for children. The menu is in English and Japanese.... We thoroughly enjoyed the food and Shabu Shabu experience. We were well and truly full by the end of the meal. Pork and vegetables were delicious as were the appetizers (various delicious fresh sashimi among other delicacies). Very dinner for our last night in Kyoto. Highly recommend

“Search no further if you are looking for shabu shabu ”
This restaurant has an authentic and traditional feel to it and for the price, the soymilk-based shabu shabu is more than amazing. Here are some photos from our 4,500yen dinner set. Definitely worth another visit!

“REAL Japanese”
Very nice, but hard to find, restaurant. Is placed in the basement. Friend had ordered our menu beforehand, as there is no english menu card - and the staff doesn't speak English. Very good food and a - despite the trouble understanding - very friendly service. They bowed to us, when ever entering o...ur dinning room.

“Private with excellent food and service”
We came to Torataro knowing that all diners will have their private room no matter the number so we thought it was interesting to try out. Besides we were looking for something light with shabushabu so a soymilk based pork shabu was very appealing. The restaurant is situated in a small side stre...et near the Shijo station. Once you walk down (the restaurant is in the basement) you are asked to remove your shoes as the whole restaurant is "shoe free". We were showed to your dining room which was nice and cozy for the two of us. We ordered two set menu dinners that were fairly reasonably priced that comes with appetizers, sashimi, sushi, pork and the dessert. Food was plentiful and fresh. However do not expect too much or have high expectations on the sashimi and sushi part as it probably isn't their specialty The pork was good and have unique taste to each of them. (we ordered 3 different kinds) If any of you have tried the agu pork in Okinawa, then you might be disappointed as that is still the best in Japan but nonetheless this was also very good in its own way. I would recommend not ordering any of the big dinner sets unless you are a big eater. The normal set is more than enough and we struggled to finish through to dessert. Service was excellent as the waitress bows every time she comes in and goes out of our room which I thought was nice but a bit of an overkill.
