We had the taster menu which was delicious. Company was great too so it was a brilliant way to end our trip in Kyoto. We were taken by friends, otherwise it's not a place you would walk into as it's in a basement level. In any case would certainly recommend now that we've been there. Met the chef at... the end of the night as was very kind to take a photo with us.

We have been invited by local friends to this excellent Japanese restaurant. We enjoyed a 8 course menu with excellent sake and green tea. It started with sesame tofu followed by an appetizer, white miso soup, sashimi, roast beef shrimp tempura, eggplant and white radish and rice with mushrooms, and... ended with a perfect desert. The taste was delicious and since my 5th visit to Japan I haven't found a place like this with such a nice balanced cuisine. The service was perfect and the separate room gave this experience a real luxury feeling. I would say a very traditional place with a long history and focused on the essentials of perfect celebrated food. The menu is in Japanese only - so you might get some help or just enjoy by get surprised by this excellent food. The restaurant is easy to find if you get out the Nishiki-Market walk on Nishikikji-Dori towards Karasuma-Dori(367), this is the 3rd crossing, turn right and the entrance is a stairway down to the right.
