“Halal Traditional Japanese Food at its finest”
Our accommodation at Kyoto was just right at New Hankyu Hotel where this establishment is conveniently located (Basement 1). The eatery is furbished with traditional Japanese furniture and no surprise that we received warm Japanese hospitality at the entrance and handed a menu full of local flavour.... There was a separate menu for halal dishes which we could select from, which is a plus for Muslim travelers seeking assurance. Their batter for the sweet potato and shrimp is golden, crispy and had its oil well-drained (did not stick to each other). The mains appeared bland at first sight and boy were we proven wrong. The dishes in general are flavorful and the traditional taste is genuine. You cant go wrong here if you are keen for traditional Japanese food. We came for lunch and the restaurant was full of locals. We had to wait for about 5 minutes despite a reservation made because they had many customers to attend to. A lot of locals lunching here is a good sign that you will be getting authentic Japanese food. Prices are rather on the high-end here, which is no surprise since it is located within the vicinity of a hotel with good location. You get good quality food and excellent service for the price you are paying. If memory serves, the establishment accepts credit card payment so there is no need to worry about bringing lots of yen.

“Very good Kaiseki”
Very good kaiseki which is recommendable for people who have not tried kaiseki before (traditional multi-course dinner). Differently priced set menus ranging from 5000 to 14000 yen are available. The staff was very friendly and explained each course to us. Only the desert was a bit disappointing a...s it felt a bit 'uncreative' for the price... Ask for tatami when you make a reservation... Unfortunately it was already booked out when we went.

“A good Japanese restaurant in Kyoto”
The food is good and presentation is proudly Japanese. I especially like the shrimp fried in batter, very crispy but not oily.

“Great HALAL dining experience!”
The restaurant is known as Minokichi and is located inside of Hotel New Hankyu Kyoto, which is just 3 mins walk from Kyoto Station exit on JR Line. We made a lunch reservation and the lunch set of Kaiseki (Japanese traditional cuisine) have been prepared for each of us when we arrived. There were ...four sets of halal servings that we may choose from the menu. Our sets were prepared an hour after we called in for reservation. The other three sets as written in the menu require reservation of 4 days in advance. As we are a Muslim family and halal foods are what we always prioritise, we always on look of halal, pork free dining places which cook using only vegetable oil. This restaurant gives a no-doubt feeling of dining experience. It is definitely halal chicken and beef and pork free. The meal cost for the seven of us for seven sets is about ¥20,000. Good price for good food. Alhamdulillah.
“Excellent Halal-friendly Japanese Cuisine Restaurant”
I came upon this restaurant while searching for a Halal Japanese restaurant in Japan as I really wanted to try authentic Japanese food in Japan. Kyokaiseki Minokichi is the only restaurant that is able to serve Halal chicken and beef for Muslims. The food was delicious - I wiped out every single pie...ce on my plates and bowls. Price wise it is a bit expensive for a meal, but nothing can stop me from trying authentic Japanese food. I hope there will be more Halal options in Japan and also hopefully Kyokaiseki Minokichi can open more branches in Japan and offer a wider variety of Halal Japanese menu and ala-carte options. Do email or call them to reserve your Halal meal in advance with them so they can prepare.
