佛沙羅館

We enjoyed an excellent authentic Thai meal at Bussarakan. We stumbled on this place while exploring the picturesque area along the canal. The menu was not in English but we were very satisfied with their set lunch menu of fried appetiser, Tom Yum Kum and Green Curry and enjoyed the views of the ...Kamo River. It's quite a small place so may not be easy to get a table and the service is not effusive, but if you're in the area give it a try and don't be put off by the older reviews.

We are traveling in a large family group with 7 adults and 4 young kids so it is often hard to find somewhere that can accommodate us. We were given a gorgeous table in a room just for ourselves that had a full glass window of the river. This made life with the kids much more relaxing. The food was... excellent! The Pad Thai is the best I have had outside of Thailand and the green curry was also excellent. Prices were very reasonable, curries approx. 900 Yen. The staff were very friendly with our children. I would definitely eat here again!

We went on a Monday night. It was only 20:50 and they turned us away saying they were closed. They obviously don’t need the money or can’t be bothered. It’s obvious from other reviews that they don’t take their business seriously. Well we can’t be bothered trying another night even though we are... staying virtually next door. We had a fantastic steak dinner up the road instead, well worth the extra money.

Our family first stumbled across this restaurant looking for a warm place to eat. After being told all the tables were reserved and that there was only three seats available we decided for two of us to eat there. The waiter looked extremely embarrassed as we walked back into the restaurant to discov...er only one other couple finishing their meal. The whole dinner was extremely uncomfortable with the two of us sitting in an empty restaurant that was said to be full. The man serving was coughing the whole time and the food was mediocre at best. It was a quite awful experience knowing the server turned away our family for reasons we don’t know. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, there is much better food elsewhere. Ruined our first night in Kyoto.
