お好み焼 もんじゃ焼 とんちんかん

Went here for lunch after visiting the Golden Temple. Our guide for the day, originally from Osaka, brought us here because we said we wanted Okonomiyaki. They offer very many different styles of okonomiyaki - the blended kind, layered kind, etc. They also offer the widest variety of ingredients tha...t I've ever seen. You add your own toppings on top. I saw some reviewers not happy about that, but I think it's fun to customize what toppings you want for your pancake. This was such a treat for us since it's nearly impossible to get this at home, and very delicious too. The prices were super reasonable too. We're so glad that we were able to sample some really tasty okonomiyaki! Note - the restaurant is located on the 3rd floor, up a slightly steep flight of stairs. Yes, more stairs!

A bunch of friends and I were wandering around trying to find somewhere to dine in Kyoto. Saw a sign which directed us upstairs to this place. Very glad we found it. Excellent food cooked right in front of you. Great experience.

We ordered and it was fun to watch them cooking. Very friendly staff and food was fresh and a great size.

We couldn't visit Hiroshima due to train delays so looked up where to try in Kyoto. Found this fun little place on the 3rd floor, and agree with all the positive previews. We had the Hiroshimayaki and was beautiful. Great mix of noodles, vegetables, meats and tasty sauce!

I was lucky enough to stumble upon this restaurant about 10 years ago, and I have not missed a stop here on every return visit to Kyoto. Really good Hiroshima style okonomiyaki is very hard to find outside of its namesake city, but the people here know how to do it properly. Osaka style okonomiyak...i is also offered as well as several other grilled dishes. The prices are great, and English menus are available, as are black paper bibs for those who really want to enjoy their food carefree.
