梅田 阪急三番街 リバーカフェ

Came with a family of 7. They combined 3 tables. But refused to give us an extra chair. Basically telling us to squeeze 7 people onto 2 three-seater sofas. In addition with had some big bags and the floor was grimes and littered. Would not budge to give us an extra chair. Food’s a 3/5 if I wasn’t al...ready pissed and squashed between 2 other people. Everything drops to a 1, or 0 if I could give it 0 Stars due to their fear of temporarily changing up the restaurant aesthetic for their customers’ comfort.

I have been wanting to go to this place but there was always a line up. It was shorter this time. 10 min in line and 10 min for my meal to arrive. I had the salmon, ikura and avocado bowl with a salad and miso soup. The salmon, ikura and avocado sat on top of some multi-grain rice with some coleslaw.... Very filling! Definitely goi g to come back to try something else.

We were looking for a good place for brunch while in the Kita-ku area, and many of the places were closed around 11:00. Not River Café, though. It has good food at decent prices, and you can get a table with a view of the river if it's not too crowded. The only minus is the place has a smoking secti...on that is open - no doors or anything to block the smoke from going over into the non-smoking areas.

I come here maybe once every two months. There is a set menu with a choice of about 8 different main dishes, surrounded by a selection of now UNESCO-approved Washoku-style dishes. Decent-sized portions, and all very well presented and rather tasty. Dessert is extra, but they are wonderful (and Weste...rn style) - today I had Gateaux Chocolate with Caramel Ice Cream. The only two minuses are that when busy (which is the normal state) staff are a bit thin on the ground, although food preparation itself is never delayed, and the seats out at the front of the cafe can get draughty.
