I cannot believe that this restaurant has had so few reviews. Yes, it is an authentic Japanese "courses" based meal. Yes, it is not cheap. But with the number of people who do foodie tours of countries, this place represents genuine, authentic Japanese cuisine. We glanced inside the door, to see kim...ono clad waitresses serving meals on the verandah overlooking the river. I immediately thought that my lack of language skills was going to make it difficult to order, and eat, correctly, but their matron'd made us feel very welcome, knowing we could not speak the language. After ensuring that we understood that we could order 5,7,8,9, or 13 courses, and what was the respective cost, they seated us on the verandah, and we now experienced a perfect few hours of quality tastes, great and pleasant service, and a charming evening. The pattern of appetiser, sashimi, broth, protein, tempura, pickles, miso and rice, then dessert we experienced at a subsequent number of places, but this meal was excellent. A meal, and Kyoto, to remember. Worth every yen it cost!

This is quite a unique experience. The restaurant has a terrace overlooking the river. If it's a rainy day you will get a room of your own. The menus are fixed and English is not spoken very well, but just go for it and enjoy. But remember that a Japanese dinner includes lots of fish. You are in for... a special evening and we loved it.

The Restaurant is located along the Kamo River in Kyoto. The Restaurant hast been serving Kyoto's residents and tourists since the Meiji Period, from 1868 - 1912). REAL Japanese Food, outdoor terrace.
