京料理 萬重

We were a group of eight without a reservation, but it was mid-afternoon and they found room for us. Very welcoming, hospitable, happy to explain the menu to people with limited understanding. Food came in waves. It was great. Good quality things we recognised. Tasty things we didn't. Beautifully p...resented, gracefully served. We ordered more but with a request from one member with allergies. No problem at all! We stayed for several hours. No pressure to leave. Great place.

One of the many restaurants located within the various complexes in Kyoto station. We had the set menus which gives you a good selection of food for a very reasonable price. We tend to eat local food when traveling and we're not disappointed with this.

We had lunch at Manshige, on a friend's recommendation. The set lunch had about 8 courses, and was excellent. I don't think there's an a'la carte menu. Each course was delicate, beautifully presented and yummy. It costs about 5,900 yen per person, which in my opinion is money well spent. Dinner pr...ices range from 8,000 yen. The setting is lovely. We had our little grandson with us, and there was another little baby next door, so children are welcome in the day. It's north of Niho castle, in the Imperial Palace area and we got there by taxi. The downside is that it's a little difficult to book if you do not speak Japanese. I tried the email given but it bounced, and managed only with the online website form. Really good taste. Tempura was great and tempura radish was good too. Tried the wasabi yuba...nice flavour and texture.
