“One of the best meal that is a must try”
This Botan-nabe which is wild boar stew. Full of flavor and the preparation is like a show. When in Kyoto it must be tried. It's very delicious . It's a two hour meal. We learned how to appreciate food and eat slowly. Awesome presentation. The service was excellent.

“Botan-nabe (Wild boar stew) at very traditional Japanese restaurant”
My husband and I never had this special cooking of the winter season. It is called Botan-nabe which is wild boar cooked in a cray pot right in front of you in very traditional Japanese Ryotei style room. The meat was super soft and delicious. Hatakaku also serves other seasonal meals throughout the ...year. During the winter, they are known for serving the Botan-nabe. Before arriving to Japan, I made a reservation at Hatakaku through our hotel concierge. We were really glad that we tried this restaurant. You can also enjoy traditional Japanese style room and garden here. We had such a wonderful experience.

“This is Beyond Dreamy- Surreal Dining Experience”
The building is beautiful, the garden is beautiful, the service is beautiful, and the food is delicious and of the highest (seasonal) quality. This was a EXTRAORDINARY experience - if you are a 'foodie' traveler- this is FOR YOU !! I felt guilty not tipping - but that is an American thing - so I ...got over it --- but I wanted to pay them more ?! for the beautiful thoughtful engaging experience.
