It was really hard finding vegetarian food in Japan so we were so grateful this restaurant offered a special vegetarian kaiseki. It was delicious and we had our own table. Staff were busy but friendly.

excellent seasonal offering..very good interplay between fish, lobster, kapanese mushroom, different vegatables. well worth the travel to this little place.

A friend who lives in the Nara area suggested this restaurant when I suggested a shabu shabu dinner for our group of four. The hostess couldn’t have been more attentive and friendly, and every one of the several courses we tried featured seasonal meats and vegetables complete with explanations and s...uggestions from our hostess. (Glad we had a translator for the full accounting.) In addition to an appetizer plate and the shabu shabu, we had sushi and Yakitori courses, as well as a course with eggplant with miso glaze and a heavenly piece of octopus. A wide variety of sakes and beers were available to wash it all down. Truly a memorable meal.

This restaurant is owned by a lovely lady called by all customers mama san, and her personal touch makes this restaurant special. The menu and food is above average, but as it is virtually fine dining it comes at a cost. We picked the 4,000 yen option (2nd of 4 menus) which added to a price tag of 9...,500 total. A la card ordering is also possible, but I would recommend a set as the portions are limited in size. Do book ahead as the restaurant is popular with locals. We were the only foreigners there, and every seat was taken on a regular Mon evening. When we dropped in for lunch earlier in the day, we learned they are closed weekday lunch. Suggest you employ google maps to find this as somewhat off the usual tourist walking path. Recommended for an authentic Japanese experience for the foodies out there.
