串カツ しろたや

While not the best kushi katsu we had in Osaka, this place is good and fun. A little heavier than our favorite, and a little oiler. I would definitely recommend this as a second stop to compare and contrast. The place is famous because the owner is called 'Giant' (he is a very tall Japanese man, ...think Jaws in Moonraker!) and was the Japan national eating champion some years ago. Our favorite skewer was the chicken sasami (tender)

We had eaten Osaka's famous Kushikatsu two nights in a row from other random restaurants and were left feeling underwhelmed. It wasn't until we tried Shirotaya's food that we realized how delicious kushikatsu could be. The owner is a gentle giant who was very welcoming despite our little Japanese. H...ighly recommended!

値段相応、味はそんなに悪くはないけど、決してベストではない。もっと安くておいしい串カツ屋は他にたくさんある。 it's not bad but there are lots more cheap yummy fried food restaurant around this restaurant.
