“Great view of the Ashiya River, pay for the location”
This is part of the Sushiman restaurant group, (the name Sushiman in Japanese characters written backwards spells Namisasu - thus this name) It is located beside the Ashiyagawa River road, you can get a great view during cherry blossom season. It is a higher-end sushi restaurant. The price point... is not crazy expensive but you are looking at 10,000 yen per person for a good meal, not including booze. They do the kaiseki but we went for the sashimi/sushi a la carte option. A few comparative observations. Like all higher-end sushi restaurants, if they are out of an item, you are out of luck. This day, we arrived at 6:30 pm, they were already out of a few items because they had an unusually busy lunch rush. This day, the chutoro was a great buy, while their otoro was also very good but there was a better bang for the buck ordering the chutoro. It was unfortunate that they ran out of both types by 7 pm. The uni was spectacular, better than other places nearby. As for the abalone, we were disappointed that they ended up disguising the taste with balsamic vinegar. There is private parking in the complex, 5 spots - clearly marked in the basement of the building. There is also a bar attached to this sushi restaurant. Would we go again? Perhaps, when we want a change from our regular place. During cherry blossom season, would be a perfect place to have lunch.
