クイントカント（QUINTOCANTO）

QUINTOCANTO is a first-class Italian restaurant in the main building of the Daibiru. The brick-built retro exterior and the chalk-white interior that looks like a wedding chapel will make you want to go in your best fashion. This time, my friend and I had the lunch course 'Menù Pranzo'. The colourf...ul collaboration between the plate and the dishes is pleasing to the eye, and the stylish Italian cuisine combines design and taste. You can choose the amount of pasta for your main course from 30g/60g/90g, so it's very safe for those who want to get full from the course meal or want to eat a lot. It is a special restaurant where the staff are full of hospitality and comfortable, and you can fully enjoy the happiness of dolce. Although it is a high-class Italian restaurant, the atmosphere is surprisingly casual, so even those who don't like the formal atmosphere can rest assured.

We spent 4 days in Osaka just eat and shop. We visited mostly restaurants on the Michelin list, but this one was referred by a friend, and this was the BEST, definitely the most enjoying during our visit. And it's not even Michelin rated. Good food, good service, good value lunch set, though wine pa...iring is a bit pricey. Still, we enjoyed.

This was the last night of our trip and we booked what we assumed to be a western style Italian restaurant. Instead, Quintocanto is a fixed price, 11 course gourmet "Italian" restaurant. The portions were all very small but creative and flavorful. The wine list contains a number of Italian selection...s. Strive was god as one has come to expect in Japan. Dine here if you want something different and adventurous but not if you want a Caesar salad and plate of pasta.

It’s not that authentic Italian & it’s pursuing more the route of fine dining. I would not say it appealed to me & its flavor profile did not offer customers the aromatic sunshine aspects of Italy. It had more of Japanese root than Italian. However, I was deeply impressed with the high service stand...ard at the restaurant.

I was looking for a special place to take my wife in Japan toward the end of a 2 week trip. I wanted an italian restaurant since that is her favorite cuisine. Quintocanto definitely offers a special and memorable dinner. Each course was unique and delicious. They even created a special "anniversary..." menu as a takeaway keepsake item. The dessert plate was decorated to celebrate our anniversary. These touches made the experience extra special. Each plate is served with extreme attention to detail. The server suggests certain ways to eat the food to get special and unique flavors. I can't really do each course justice, besides the menu changes frequently. So I will simply say that everything was prepared with amazing detail, with fresh and local ingredients. Simply delicious. I did the wine pairing with a "half glass". The sommelier was very knowledgeable. I had noted that a particular red wine from Northern Italy had unique vanilla tones. I assumed that was from the oak and wondered out loud where the oak was from, not really expecting an answer. She was able to answer while adding additional context about the source of the oak. That level of knowledge was unexpected, yet delightful. I think the wine pairing was genarally well done. My only issue is that it was very expensive for the quantity of wine. They suggested that the 10 - half glass portions would be roughly 3/4 of a bottle of wine. It seemed far less to me. As I said, the wine pairing was done well, but it was pricey for what you get. (about $115) Lastly, the bread was just okay. It was not the type of hearty bread you would expect in an Italian restaurant. I think they could have done better with that. Despite my minor complaints I still rate the overall experience very high. I would recommend for a special dinner. As an aside, I was very concerned about my dress. If I had a suit or jacket with me I would have worn it. Japan is generally more formal than the US or Europe. I wore a pair of cotten slacks, nice sneakers and a short sleeve button shirt. I was not the worst dressed person and the only non-Asian in the restaurant. My point is that you can be comfortable not dressing in a suit or jacket.
