Kensui Nishiki is a Kyoto-style pub located in a corner of Nishiki Market—known as "Kyoto's Kitchen"—in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto. It is a place where you can enjoy "obanzai" (traditional home cooking) made with seasonal Kyoto vegetables and local sake. Conveniently situated near Karasuma and Shijo Stations, the shop offers a warm, casual atmosphere where you can experience Kyoto’s traditions without any pretense. For international guests, we offer set meals featuring fresh seafood and premium beef to showcase Japanese food culture. Our chef personally selects the freshest seasonal fish and vegetables from the market. Our signature obanzai, with over 10 varieties always available, is made using "Ichiban Dashi" (first-brew stock) from Southern Hokkaido kelp and Yaizu bonito flakes to bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients. Beyond obanzai, we offer professional Japanese cuisine including sashimi, grilled dishes, fried dishes, and full courses. We also stock over 30 varieties of sake, primarily from Kyoto, for perfect pairings. The interior is a relaxing space with Japanese warmth. We offer counter seats for chatting with staff and flexible table seats popular with groups. We also have private rooms for up to 10 guests and semi-private rooms, making us ideal for everything from solo dining to business meetings and dates.
