“Traditional done well”

A business colleague in Himeji brought us to Matono for lunch, and it was well-worth the visit. The building exterior is unassuming, but the interior has the stone and water features that speak of another age. The lunch was multi[course, and our host indicated that some of the fish was local-caugh...t and unfrozen. The service had the quiet, gracious competence in keeping with the atmosphere of the restaurant. I understand that the restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star and would concur in that.
