“A good alternative to the flagship store in Osaka”
Patronised this store in December 2023. Made reservations for dinner a month in advance to ensure I got a place as the bookings for the main store in Osaka fills up quickly. Kyoto is not far away and a short drive for us tourists. When we got there, we were shown to our room with our own wait sta...ff who attend to us. As a family, we ordered different items on the menu (small to large) so that we could share our dining experience. Overall, the place did not disappoint. Snow crabs are expensive if bought from the market so the pricing is very competitive for what you get. They find all ways to cook the crab, we had them raw, boiled, fried, over a fire, etc. I would say that my meal consisted of at least half a crab with the carapace thrown in on a small hibachi fire.

“Horrible”
I am mortified. My first time experiencing racism. This place turned us away yesterday after trying to make a reservation. After speaking with manager they gave us a barcode and said come back tomorrow. We arrived next day with reservation confirmation and they asked us to leave. When we asked why... the repeated ‘you can’t eat here’ Their racism is disgusting and I do not advise anyone to support this establishment visitor or not.

“Exquisite meal, you would love it.”
My wife and I were at the restaurant around 2 p.m., so there was no que waiting. We were taken to the 2nd floor which is decorated in Japanese style, the table and seat are quiet low because they stand on the lower level that we walk upon. So it seemed like we are sitting on the tatami floor but the...re is a dent around the table where we can rest our feet like we are sitting on a conventional chair. The staff were very nice they would sit on there knees when they came to take order or serving the food. Plus a few of them were english fluent. The menu was extensive even the menu set but many dish in each set seem to be the same but different in presentation including the size and style of the dish. Only a few dish is totally different which are explained in the menu. In a nut shell, if you order a large set you would get 3 kinds of crab; King crab, Snow crab, and Hairy crab; serveded in one or many style from fresh (sashimi), grilled, boiled, deep fried (tempura), Gratin (with/without sourcs), sukiyaki, croquette, crab paste, all kinds of way to cook, you name it! The crab was fresh, you can enjoy the juicy and sweetness in raw and boil dish. Quiet another taste on the grilled dish. Over all we love the restaurant. Extensive menu & ala cart, friendly staff, excellent quality of carbs, though you can not come here very often due to the price. Anyway, we recommended you to try at least once, you would love it. Better avoid the peak lunch or dinner time though, otherwise it might take hours to get a table.

“Fantastic flavours!! Worth queuing for. ”
I had a failed attempt of lunching at kani durako in by the Shinjuku station in Tokyo. After 1h of waiting the 3 parties ahead of me hadn't gone in so I gave up. But since a friend had highly recommended I decided to try again in Kyoto. I dropped in after I had my lunch to reserve a table for dinn...er but they said they don't reserve. It was a Saturday, the staff said if you come at 5 pm you'll get as take around 6. So I did go at 5 and was given a piece of paper with 6.30 pm reservation and I could come back so that's how it worked at this location. I chose a meal which was about 7k Yen. Was served crab cooked in two ways - grilled and steamed (guess!). I had to cook the rest of the bulk of crab in the hot pot with veggies. Also served raw crab. The dessert was lime sorbet and was a great finishing taste too.

“Rude staff. Worst experience here in Kyoto.”
The staff that come to my room was very unfriendly and rude. She troll the hot towel on the table. She also place water glass on the table quite lound. She also tell my mom to pick up the menu that is on the table to pick it up and place it in the box. And during I was playing Facebook my phone she ...do very rude manner she told me to stop taking her picture but I just playing the Facebook.End up by can't stand her anymore so we change the staff for our room. I like this resturant and come to Kyoto and eat here with my family every year. I think Japanese are used to more polite and good in service mind.
