貴船 喜らく

One of my Japanese friends took me to this restaurant for lunch after visiting Kurama and this place was just wonderful. Of course there are many other restaurants along the stream, fancier and more expensive. For me, however, this restaurant was just perfect with a casual but traditional ambience a...nd the foods were quite nice with great waitstaff. Upon reservation you can ask them to come pick you up at the station and if necessary, you can take a shuttle bus back to the station after looking around Kibine area. There are this kind of restaurants ( Kawayuka ) in the city of Kyoto as well, but it was definitely worth taking a quick getaway for some quite and peace.

I've had better food than what I paid for here. The food was mediocre, but they had a convenient shuttle service to the train station, which made our lives way easier. The scenery was great, but the mosquitos!! Bring bug spray when you go! I recommend for the experience but not the food so much.... My dinner at my ryokan was cheaper but way better quality.

Kifune is a lovely spot that is just right for a half-day trip from Kyoto. It can be reached conveniently though a combination of the Keihan and Eizan train lines, and features temples such as the famous Kifune shrine that is nestled into the forested hillside north of Kyoto. There is a small river... that cascades down a series of small waterfalls and is lined by a number of restaurants that overlook the water. One of these is Kibune Kirako where we had a multi course lunch for about 8500 Yen per person. Reservations can be made by using an online form (unfortunately only in Japanese), and there is very little English spoken in the establishment. But this does not matter, as it is not a problem to communicate with staff about orders by pointing at one of the various pictures of the meal combinations. Food was very good, and consisted mainly of various types of seafood, along with some tempura and the obligatory miso soup and bowl of rice at the conclusion of the meal. These dishes were nicely presented, and the sake that we ordered was delicious. Regrettably, we were at Kibune during a typhoon which prevented us from fully taking advantage of the riverside experience, but the lunch in the private Tatami room was still lovely. Overall, a very pleasant experience in a wonderful setting. The establishment accepts cash only!

京阪の出町柳からでてる叡電で貴船口まで。電話しておくと貴船口まで送迎してくれます。貴船口からは車ですぐでした。貴船には川にそっていくつかのお店があり、夏場(店によりますが、今年、きらくさんは5月1日から川床はオープンしたそうです）川の上にテーブルがつくられ涼しい川の流れの上で食事できる川床、がつくられます。 お店は川の上流から下流まで点々とあり、きらく、さんはちょうど貴船神社の真ん前になります。 貴船口まで迎えにきてもらって、食事の前に神社におまいり、もできます。 神社はすぐ、のところなので便利でした。 私たちが行ったときは川床はあまりに涼しすぎ、というより寒かったので中のお部屋でいただきまし...たがおいしかったです。子持ちアユのたいたの、とか、季節のたけのこ、など。お店の人たちも感じがよかったです。 It's very hot in summer in Kyoto, however, you can enjoy lunch here in Kibune. Tables are set over the river and it's cool and comfortable in Kibune. You can take EIDEN from Demachiyanagi Station and get off at Kibuneguchi Stataion. If you call Kiraku in advance (before riding Eiden), they will come to pick you up at Kibuneguchi Station. It takes only about 5 minutes or so by shuttle to Kiraku from the station. Lunch is not so cheap (about 5000~15000 yen), but you can enjoy the elegant Japanese lunch. Kibune Jinjya Shrine is just in front of Kiraku, so you can visit the shrine before or after the lunch. Kiraku also takes you to the Kibuneguchi Station when you go back to the city. (While riding on EIDEN, you can enjoy the beautiful maple trees, especially in fall.)
