“A real gem boutique high-end Italian”
What a wonderful gem of a restaurant. We enjoyed a festive family dinner and experienced great service, a beautiful, tasteful and well priced menu, and excellent accompanying wine. I highly recommend L’Incontro. Do reserve in advance due to the limited seats.

“I went to this place for lunch.”
I went to this place for lunch. The portion was so small and not tasty. Strange salt was put by the cook’s hand . He didn’t even use spoon. I could not enjoy food because I was afraid that his hand may not be very clean.

“Creative and vibrant Italian cooking in Naramachi!”
We enjoyed a really interesting and diverse range of courses based on locally sourced ingredients, including wild boar shot by the chef's friend. Presentation for each of the seven courses was stunning and execution faultless, each bringing a new surprise to the palate. As other reviews have said th...e theme is Italian with Japanese innovation. We sat by the counter and although I am not usually a fan, this was the best spot. You could watch the whole team put together each dish in their compact kitchen area. All were very friendly and enthusiastic happily explaining each dish. The wine list was a little limited but complemented the food nicely. Not the cheapest place in Nara but fantastic value for such high class food, the equivalent of which you wouldn't easily match in many much larger cities. We wish them great success for the future and will certainly be back next time we visit Nara.

“Delightful dinner”
Because of reviews on Trip Advisor we chose L’Incontro and we were not disappointed, we had a delicious dinner and a lovely experience. The restaurant is small and intimate, staffed by the owner/chef and two assistants. We sat at the counter which made for an extra special evening as we could obser...ve the food being prepared and interact with the chef. Many of the dishes included vegetables supplied by his friend’s garden or wild game he had procured. The chef made the fresh squid ink pasta, smoked the firefly crabs and processed the venison. We were staying at Noborioji Hotel and took a short cab ride to the restaurant to be sure we could find it and had a 15 minute walk back to our hotel after the delightful dinner.

“Nara’s best kept secret.”
This restaurant was amazing. Tucked away in a typically Japanese street this restaurant was a fantastic discovery. The food was a fusion of Japanese presentation and precision with attention to flavour combinations with an Italian influence. The result was wonderfully fresh food, presented beautifu...lly that delivered on flavour. You can BYO which we did, but they also had a very competent wine list which we also sampled. The service was excellent and the staff were very knowledgeable explaining every dish in detail. We chose the 8,000 Yen menu, the options were 6,000, 8,000, 10,000 and 12,000 menu options. The 8,000 menu quality was excellent and whilst this may seem expensive it was great value for money if you are someone who enjoys fine dining.
