“Extremely disappointing experience”
Absolutely awful customer service experienced at your establishment this week. 2 of my 3 Piece Chicken Meatball Skewer order were forgotten about 2 times - I had to ask your servers about my order, many many times, even using Google Translate to support me AND your server and after 15 mins I still ...did not have the 2 skewers I was waiting on. We gave up and I only got to eat 1 skewer and then my chicken dish which was very undercooked and my serving of "vegetables" was just brown and wilted WARM LETTUCE with a sliver of carrot! Lettuce is a SALAD item NOT a vegetable!! I was violently ill after I left your restaurant and crawled back to my hotel bed where I stayed, very sick, until the next morning. My friend ordered the 5 piece skewers which eventually arrived on 5 separate plates with about 5 mins in between each plate. I have never seen anything so ridiculous in my life at a restaurant - 25 mins to eat 5 skewers??!! If I wanted uncooked chicken with a greasy splashback kitchen surface and cockroaches running across benchtops (Yes! Cockroaches!) I would have stayed in my hometown of Adelaide, South Australia and eaten at the worst back alley Chinatown knock off restaurant, run by a 6th generation "Australian" family with no idea on how to cook authentic Asian cuisine. Instead, I've flown over 7000 kilometres to Kyoto, poured hundreds of thousands of Yen into my trip to help build Kyoto's economy and experienced the worst custom I could possibly experience! Not any offer of a refund. Not an apology. Nothing! I am beyond disappointed and shocked and will be taking this further. I will say this - your Garlic Bread was absolutely amazing and I am so happy to have had one positive experience to take home with me from your establishment. My friend enjoyed his meal yet would have been more enjoyable as firm and fried tofu, not silken tofu as he received. I hope you take my review of our evening at your establishment seriously and reflect on your practices. I will not be returning to your place of business on my next visit to Kyoto unless your customer service and food service improves considerably.

“We never miss a visit here!!”
On our first trip to Kyoto we stumbled across this place. Walking past we met the chef outside taking a break who encouraged us to come inside. The rest as they say is history! We met the owner that night and we’ve been in touch ever since. Tonight was our third visit to the restaurant as it is our... third visit to Kyoto. Wonderful to see that the same chef is still here. Very well priced yakatori. Brilliant service. A Simple way to eat in a very relaxing atmosphere. Not a huge amount of English spoken but there are English menus and they do all they can to help you. Google Translate is a blessing for after dinner conversations! A great place for dinner when staying in Kyoto.

“Nice food and reasonably priced”
Two of us had a nice dinner here. Definitely we’d recommended this resto to people. Skewers of different parts of chicken, different types of vegetables, one type of beef and pork. All tasted very good and well managed, do note some are internal organs. One thing all should note is the ventilation... not very powerful and be prepared to be soaked in bbq smell.

“Nice yakitori”
The place is quite small, a bar and a few tables. We chose a 4 different yakitori, all good. The staff is nice, they have an English menue and you can pay buy credit card

“Hole-in- the -wall”
Hole on the wall? Sure, but what a hole! We had meat, cut into cubes, a salad and edamame beans. Sounds boring? Well, no. The meat was tender, spiced up and with a nice grilled surface. And the salad - a very generous portion - had a very tasty dressing. The staff, understanding and speaking basic e...nglish, was very friendly. And one last thing, that only can happen in Japan: I forgot my glasses on the table, and one of the staff came running after us with them. Great! We’ll return asap.
